If they cared what we thought, they wouldn't have announced a shutdown in the first place. I'm sure this was anticipated.
I've signed it but I don't think it will change anything. I worked for Microsoft for 10 years and then someone decided the function 9 of us were filling wasn't needed, along with several thousand other people. I like to think customers we dealt with missed us, but who knows. Amazon has decided it doesn't need / want some things that it owns / does and is getting out of them. Maybe it gave itself some time to find a buyer for DPR - better to get something and avoid having to pay people off - but not finding one, it pulled the plug. It's not impossible to get companies like this to change decisions, but I wouldn't hold out much hope
I also signed, but I did not like the signup software. It did not feel serious and more like a trap to make money somehow. Got so much "opportunities" for other stuff. When I was read i did not really understand if I was ready, like some step was missing. But, it seems I was ready. I think?

It seems like they have turned off indexing of posts you make. When I look at my history of posts for latest activity, then there is nothing newer than three weeks there. So, that hints at this already was decided more than three weeks ago. Just an observation without any value whatsoever.

It also seems like the main shutdown thread is dead. It has 3800+ posts and there have not been any new posts the last 8 hours. I wrote three posts three hours ago and they are all three of them awaiting moderation. So maybe it is just the moderators that are exhausted or maybe sleeping.
Nope, the shutdown thread is not dead. The queue for being moderated is very slow though. Their choice to moderate it is probably wise, but it has a cost in man-power needs.

So where else do you hang out? Need that source of credible info! :-)

Doug
Nowhere really. I have an PentaxForums account. But I do not find it hangaround-friendly. The DPReview forum browser is just so much better. And, that there are all other brands at DPReview makes it so much more useful.
This is my experience as well. I have found PF to be mostly a private club for a handful regular posters, and haven't found much opportunity for dialogue there. And I like browsing other forums here, just to sample the Zeitgeist of the photographic world.

Hello

I don't know where to post it, so I post it here:

It's time to say goodby.

It was a wonderful time to meet you here, to share pictures with you and discuss our cameras, lens, flash and so on, with you.

I learned so much from you and it was a joy to see your pictures !

I will miss you all !

At last: my English got never better in all this time since 2005, where I started to read and than later to post here. Thank you that you did always tolerated my way of writing in your Language.

best and warm regards

Agreed. Also, businesses don't change course of action from letters unless they are drafted by an attorney.

This is very sad.

I have not been active in writing but have learned from many in this forum.

Thank you much.

Very sad news, by everyone, guess I'll go to PF
For all those already at, or migrating to, PF... will you be using the same username?

I would hope to say "Hi" over there to familair faces [names] one day :(

To meet and discuss as a pentaxians.
I have never, and will never, sign up for Facebook.
Ditto.
I signed up on FB long time ago, but I use it as I thought it was made for initially: there's no one in my contacts that I don't personally know, friend or family or somehow close related.

So to me it's just like a shared whiteboard, where I can see things about friends or family I would sometimes prefer not to know :-D

I realize I don't go there much anyway ... But I prefer to stay away from any association, group, community, inside Facebook. I'm on Twitter, I read enough trolls for my taste already :-D
Same here, I'm on FB, but my connections are limited to friends and family whom I actually know in real life (as the info on there is personel to them as well as me).

Signed and donated.

Dpreview is not a simple forum - it is a website hosting many forums.

I would like to know where the Pentax community at dpreview moves to.

I just registered at https://dprevived.com/

However, there seem to pop up several alternative forums which were designed the quick way. On the one hand, it is nice that people spend their time to prepare new options - on the other hand, it leads to a split of community.

For this reason: where will I meet the Pentax community of dpreview after 10th of April?

I know, we have also pentaxforums ...

However, I would like to see this form here alive and kicking hosted by a different host.

Best regards

Holger
