Hi Thom
this is disingenous, and unlike you - the front page of your site simply links back here:
http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1021&message=28743455
it would be okay, but if you aren't going to offer any help, then directing people to your site so that they can come back here . . . . . .
Whatever
if you're using a mac, then if you have access to parallels or fusion, then this fix also works well with Aperture / Lightroom and ACR on the Mac. I've managed to write a little script to do all the files in a folder at once, but it would mean installing a runtime on people's computers which I don't have the right to do . . . . sorry.
Still, it's not rocket science!
My feeling is that at the moment it's the best fix, whatever converter you're using, but especially with Aperture, as it uses the D3 converter - which is clearly right.
I've spent a lot of time trying to find a fix in raw.plist, but it doesn't seem so simple. I've tried duplicating D3 and changing values to D700, I've also tried creating siblings (which works with most cameras). I'm not sure what the problem is, but have appealed to a 'higher authority' - hopefully a few pints of guiness and some thought will provide a solution - in which case I'll post it here.
all the best
