Welcome to the Weekly Image Thread!

This thread will appear every Saturday (GMT). If the thread is nearing full before the next Saturday, I may start a new thread and carry on until it fills or the next Saturday arrives and it is reasonably full in which case I will start another. Confused, so am I! From time to time the start could be delayed if I am unavailable.

Although this Weekly thread is in the Olympus SLR forum, we openly welcome users of all brands and models.

Please:

  1. Reply to this post and change the TITLE!
  2. Please reply to at least one other contribution, your replies encourage posters!!!
  3. If asked, please share your processing techniques or technical details.
  4. Please show the EXIF if possible. Please identify the lens used regardless of which camera was used to take the image. This helps people form opinions of the lens used with the body to possibly influence future acquisitions.
  5. If special lighting was used to create your image stating what was done may help others.
Thanks for joining and contributing this week.

If you post a pano that is on its own and not part of set of images feel free to post it as a reply to this post. I will not always have one ready so don't wait for me to post one before you!

Very pretty little birds - a delight to see.

Dicky.

Very nice Andrew. #1 is my pick - still verdant pasture but with a smorgasbord of Autumn colours.

Dicky.

The second series of storm cells came through yesterday and fortunately all missed us. I thought I had a custom mode set up ready for live composite. I did - but somehow stuffed it up by accidentally changing Live composite to bulb instead of changing the aperture by twiddling the rear dial instead of the front dial. By the time my fuddled brain got things organised most of the lightning had moved out to sea.

Ouch!
Ouch!

Oh well there is always next time.

The Boss is still in hospital so I went to the annual 'Grandparents' day at kindy alone. My granddaughter just about wore me out showing me all the things they make and do. Because Gran wasn't there she insisted on painting my nails.

Dicky.

PS. it was 39°C at golf today; I must have drank three gallons of water getting around the 10km course.

That looks like a very nasty storm Dicky best viewed from the comfort of your home.

If you were out in public with that nail varnish you're braver than I am.

Dave

Nice shots Paul. All these are regular visitors to our garden.

What kind of tree are they in?

Dave

Thanks Andrew for running this thread all these years and thanks to all of the regular contributors.

I haven’t been active much these recent years as my wife has been battling cancer and my desire to do and share my photography has been minimal.

She has been my motivation and source of encouragement with all my photography and has bought me most of my gear - usually as surprise presents.

My wife is now at the end and I’ll probably put my cameras away. Maybe someday I’ll take it up again.

I also feel that the imminent forum changes will kill my enjoyment on this site so this is likely my final post on DPR fora.

best wishes to all here

Peter

Peter, I am deeply saddened by what you and your wife have been through over the past few years, and what is about to happen. There is nothing I can say or do to make it better. Cancer is a terrible disease that is indiscriminate in whom it strikes. I feel deeply for you both.

In true sympathy Peter,

Andrew

Thanks Dicky.

That first had wheat if I recall correctly. They rotate the crops there so I could be remembering incorrectly. The green in that image is winter wheat. They plant it in the fall so it will grow some and become established before winter. Then it has a good start and gets harvested in late summer so that the ground can be prepared for the new planting.

Andrew

Thanks Paul.

Most of the leaves on our property are down now, but not all! There are still a large number of gorgeous maples around locally but the other trees are dropping leaves quickly. Very heavy frost here last night!

Got down to the Tennessee River for an afternoon on an overcast day .. Little here that I haven't shown you before but wanted to stop by before the site change to no threads! ... So here is the river on an overcast day

Haven't been here for while as I was preoccupied with other matters, also have only taken about a dozen pictures this month -- these and one other stop earlier in the month ---- and not sure of my participation once the"change" occurs! Will try to spend a little time here today but then ....

Nice set Andrew ... Good to see you out and about .. Hope things work out after the "change" but not optimistic! ...
