Welcome to the Weekly Image Thread!

This thread will appear every Saturday (GMT). If the thread is nearing full before the next Saturday, I may start a new thread and carry on until it fills or the next Saturday arrives and it is reasonably full in which case I will start another. Confused, so am I! From time to time the start could be delayed if I am unavailable.

Although this Weekly thread is in the Olympus SLR forum, we openly welcome users of all brands and models.

Please:

  1. Reply to this post and change the TITLE!
  2. Please reply to at least one other contribution, your replies encourage posters!!!
  3. If asked, please share your processing techniques or technical details.
  4. Please show the EXIF if possible. Please identify the lens used regardless of which camera was used to take the image. This helps people form opinions of the lens used with the body to possibly influence future acquisitions.
  5. If special lighting was used to create your image stating what was done may help others.
Thanks for joining and contributing this week.

If you post a pano that is on its own and not part of set of images feel free to post it as a reply to this post. I will not always have one ready so don't wait for me to post one before you!

1000, who would have guessed! Not me!

Delhi has an annual judged car show. I went once in 2017 and this was the first time I have been back. I have shot a lot of cars and the tedium of removing distractions has influenced my desire to shoot them. Some place with lots of room would be nice!

Andrew

anyway, some from this year's show.

Just fab selection. My fave shots.

1000 Andrew. That's a great achievement and thanks for all the hard work you've put in.

A varied selecton of cars, of which I particularly like the International and the Nash.

Doesn't seem like 1,000 to me, Andrew. I have enjoyed every one.

Your angle made the Lincoln look even bigger than it is. I've always liked the 39 Dodge. This one look great. Chrysler was trying to outdo GM with the styling. You should see the 42 De Soto with its great front end and hideaway headlights. What don't you like about your background of the Plymouth Fury? I thought it OK until I read that it is sub par. Now I feel dense. 🤓

A great day for photography at Gill's.

Up on Hawks Hill on the way to Gill's.

Shot with the weird little Sigma 8-16 which has a convex front element which moves in and out with the internal zoom and is good for bending the corner around.

The bird for Charlotte.

There was just one pelican. You know I'm desperate for pictures when I shoot nasty and disgusting gulls.

The cormorants were already full of fish, finished preening, and almost inanimate.

There were two egrets but when you've seen one egret, you've seen them all.

And a nice sky too.

A place to sit while shooting. Just watch out for splinters.

Congratulations on reaching 1000 Andrew.😃

Many thanks for all your efforts over the years.

I could have some fun driving the Lincoln Continental around my town watching local drivers panic and scatter.

I really like the shot of the little boat setting out into the wild blue yonder Rich.

My brother- in -law was a fisherman when I met him when I was a child. He would tell me tales of his life on the ocean waves and made me realise that life wasn't for me.

Dave

I'm not much of a car person, but these are nice. I personally don't find this kind of background distracting. Greenery like this has a sort of chaotic uniformity that is much more pleasing to my eye than a totally plain background (not that you use that kind!)

On a completely different subject -- If push comes to shove, I hear that The Photo/DPRevived is close to adding threading . . .

Lynne

Congratulations for a 1000 weekly threads

If you don't know where you're going, any road will take you there.

Not a bird I recognize so perhaps we don't have any of those around my parts. On the other hand, I am not a birder unless they are outside our kitchen window or large birds like cranes and swans. Nice to see!

Andrew

Thanks Lynne.

Time will tell on that issue but I expect they will forge ahead as they have said nothing to indicate otherwise. I have never used flat view here in my excess of 50 000 posts. To each their own I guess.
