Wow... that is a great sky! Very pretty shot. Good use of a pano!

We've been here before, but it was a good beach day today... one obvious error in stitching about half way and 1/3 up but still worth sharing.

A friend called and said the whales are running off Sharp Park again. They're still chasing Rich's lost anchovies... I didn't have any luck with limited reach, but was sure fun to watch the birds chase the whales who were chasing the anchovies.

Birds and whales Joe what more do u need on a day out maybe a nice land/beach scape but one can’t be to greedy

Haven’t been out much or on the forum lately but got out for about a hour this morning got one shot that I liked

I suspect your weather has been much the same as mine Paul. In other words - rubbish.

Sometimes you have to bite the bullet and just get out there. At least you came back with a very nice image.

Thanks Dave weather summer has been exactly as u describe but I suppose it’s still good to get out into nature and landscape good for the well-being

Went out to a couple nature centers yesterday with a friend birding. Seemed really quiet and didn't think I saw or got pix of much. Of course, on the drive out of one of the places, I saw a thrush I need but by the time I stopped and got my camera (which was in the back seat since I had a passenger) it had flown. However, on returning home, I found I did have a few decent shots - and two new birds to add to my life list (not good enough photos to post, but good enough to count as Merlin properly identified them).


Tennessee Warbler


Wood Duck - female


Mallard - female


Green Heron


Eastern Wood-Pewee


Willow Flycatcher

And six other species.

If you pay attention to such things, you'll note my photos are dated 8/31. Guess I put the wrong date in when I updated FW the other day. Speaking of which, I've not noticed any improvement in AF with the update, and, one time my 100-400 refused to focus. I had to switch the camera off and restart.

Earlier last month I got this shot of a Bald Eagle I don't think I've posted yet.

Remembering Sept 2009 as I was transitioning from Canon to Olymus and had just started participating here month before ... Looking back I can't say that my subjects have changed much or my view of subjects have changed. I have reprocessed these only to say I did so, but then I didn't change the crop or much of the final look ...



There were more insects in the yard and I am sorry not to have included that preying mantis in this set











Not much change inthe roses ...











and there were more interesting mushrooms growing that year









I can't say that moving form the Canon A620 to the Olympus E-520 improved my photography much .. just made it easier and allowed for more subjects ... and acquiring lenses!

Interestingly I found that if the file doesn't include the capture date I cannot upload to the DPR Gallery so I faked the mushroom capture date ...
