If 5dmk4 has no new sensor

Will you leave Canon? I think I will have no choice!
I'm sure the photographic community will be simply crushed if you did that, and Canons finances will be dealt a devastating blow, they might have to lay off a few thousand workers to keep their stockholders happy....by the way, who are you again?

i dont think your tone helps....its post like this that is the start of getting a thread locked and is no way go towards a healthy debate
I know, you're right. I just get very tired of people expecting a huge company like Canon to pander to their specific needs, and when Canon doesn't deliver they threaten to change systems. Economically, people switching mounts on a whim is just a drop in the ocean.

its just not acceptable that I will have to pay so much for a camera which is already beaten by smaller sensors and cheaper cameras, and the leaps in sensor tech and what will soon come from panasonic have me worried
Dude is spending way too much time on the internet rather than furthering his craft.

Will be on a lookout as and when you put canon gear on sale :) .

Suggestion:

If you are really that unhappy, then stop crying about it and jump ship already.

Just do it; and put yourself out of your misery.

We don't really care what gear you are shooting.

I always find comments like this amazing -- and the reason why I tend to think that most of this DR discussion is driven by nothing more than DR envy on the part of many Canon users. There is nothing said about photography here, it looks like you just want a better number on some spec sheet or a higher rating in a review.

Done over the week-end. Tired of waiting for better tomorrows.

Why? Where are you going to go? Sony is making great sensors, but the mechanical aspects of their cameras are a downgrade to Canon and Nikon, and you have a limited lens selection. Nikon is producing great bodies, but I wouldn't feel comfortable heavily investing in a company who's future is controlled by Sony, and I don't particularly care for Nikon lenses compared to Canon. Canon bodies are more than capable to get any job done and they are producing some amazing prime quality zoom lenses right now from 11-400mm. Sooo, yeah.
Nikon has plenty of options for sensors other than Sony. Similarly, Canon has options other than Canon for sensors. I wouldn't worry too much about either companies' choice of sensor vendor.

Assuming, of course, that that part of you name is meant to stand for 'zen' :-)

Goodbye.

The 5D3 is a better camera than you will ever be able to use to its limits, the 5D4 will push those limits even further away from you, get a life - blaming a camera's sensor on a reason to change brands just makes you sound like a gear hungry amateur consumed by paper specs.

5DIV will come with new sensor tech as it would otherwise kill off one of Canon's strongest marketing points: the 5d-series.

Even if Canon lags Nikon/SONY sensor quality and seem unlikely to catch up anytime soon Canon has said they are committed to improving their sensors. Any 5DIV will certainly include some sort of "improved" sensor tech.

With the D750 at a bargain price with better paper specs than the 5DIII I have to believe Canon will go a very long way to make the 5DIV a bread winner.

Canon lags in one aspect only: DR at base ISO. Compared to the A7R/A7II (bit not Nikon), it still has better DR at high ISO, where it really matters, no visible sensor reflections or color shift. It has much better colors, too. And this is just the 6D, we do not really know what the 5DS will bring.

I wonder how many people actually take photos with their equipment. :-)

5DMIV will in rumor land so far have a new 18MP sensor with great high ISO performance. Makes sense Canon will have high MP in 5DS/R. Sensor will be in good company with Nikon DF and Sony's A7S. Stand out feature from this group however will be Canon's AF system rumored to be 64 AF points but all cross types. In all honesty if rumor comes out to be true I will be 3-4 grand poorer this year.

It looks like that rumor is more aligned with a replacement for the 1DC camera according to the Northlight guys. I would be really surprised to see the replacement for the 5DIII come in with fewer MP -- but stranger things have happened.

No.

I am thinking of getting one of those high MP cameras from Canon. Not leaving.

zenpmd has not uploaded any photos to their gallery yet.

zenpmd has not submitted any challenge entries yet.

Can you show us one of your photos that illustrates why you need a better sensor?

you do have to wonder.

how on earth did we take photos with digital cameras when there was only 9EV of DR instead of even the miniscule 11EV on canon sensors?

canon tests many different configurations this far out. camera body design can happen over the course of 3-5 years as well, so it could be any camera - or even just "bait" to see who leaks it.

It's not on a whim. I've been shooting Canon for nearly 40 years and would really like a FF higher res camera for landscape and street work. I've not taken the plunge simply because Canon over the past few models has not shown a camera that truly interests me and the low ISO DR issue is a part of it. I don't like Nikon's ergo's, UI or lens offerings so they've never been an option and to me Sony is an entertainment company, not a camera company and I don't trust them. I've also had several Sony product disasters and I'm not interested in going there again.

So I got tired of waiting and bought big into a Fuji XT1 system last year and am now dual system. The Fuji has at least a stop better shadow performance than any Canon APS C (7D my latest) and probably even Canon FF and I've come to appreciate the flexibility of the Fuji raw files. I made the move for the smaller & lighter size, retro controls and excellent optics but once I worked raw files in post and experienced the clean shadows I'm even less enthusiastic about Canon's offerings but I appreciate that YMMV.

That was $5000+ of my money that Canon didn't get and I'm sure they don't care or at least that's the way they act. Now much of the Canon gear is getting sold so even if they do come out with a better sensor it's probably too little too late for me but again, Canon probably doesn't care but maybe they should.
