WAY over sized load

Hey David
Wow Thats one big hunk of iron. I did not realize just how big
until the 3rd shot. I wonder what kind of crane they have that
could lift that. Bet that would make a good shot to. Thanks for
sharing.
Hi Will,

I thought of you and your "destruction" shots. If I knew exactly where the beam was headed, I'd try to get a shot of its "installation".....or whatever the heck they're going to do with it.

Best wishes,

David, there can't be many 'Roundabouts' on its route!

Really interesting shots - (looked long and hard at the stretched
shot to see if it fitted April 1st!!!!)
Hi Dr. B,

lol. No.....this isn't an April 1st prank. Er.....unless the truck driver created one. (But that'd be an awful expensive prank.)

I'm not sure there's a single "roundabout" (in the English language we call them "traffic circles") in the whole state of Vermont. Good thing!

Best wishes,

David-- http://www.mongoosephoto.com

The first two shots I can believe - the last one . . . . . . have
you been fiddling in photoshop? it CAN'T be THAT long!
Hi Jono,

I had to use the WCON for the third shot, after climbing down an embankment, to be able to get the full length in the frame.

Several all-too-cynical posters, such as yourself!, suggested a PS trick.....particularly understandable in light of April 1st. But honestly, this was all one truck (lory??), definitely the longest one I've ever seen.

Hope your Easter was wonderful.

Best wishes,

David-- http://www.mongoosephoto.com

Hi Laurie (Self Discipline Award Winner, 2002),
Oh-oh - have you caved already?? Actually, Diane is in the contest also, and we're all pretty much neck-and-neck. Well, except I did start a file last night of lenses and accessories . . . but files don't count, right?
Pretty amazing, huh? I really can't imagine driving around in that
rig. It's been parked in that spot for a couple of days
now.....maybe the driver got fed up and just quit?
Wonder how the owner of that property feels about it . . .how'd you like to have that parked in your front lawn? I've had all sorts of weird thoughts about it . . .like how does the guy make a turn?? And does he have trouble finding a spot where he can park and do the restroom thing?--Best,Laurie

Jeez Louise!
It's no wonder the guy had to stop for a break -- probably needs
binos just to look in his rearviews!
Too funny! Wonder what kind of test you have to pass to drive something like this? Think he dares to ever change lanes?--Best,Laurie

YOu can add me to the list of potential 'cavers.' But not too soon. I handled the D30 last week while visiting my brother and was pleased to notice that it is very similar in feel to the E10. I read that the D60 will have the same body shape/size...I'm right about that, aren't I? I even had a kind-hearted aside by my brother implying that we could 'share' lenses on shoots together. He has quite a collection that I could add very little to.

I am waiting for the D60 to come out and have many people using and commenting on before making any decisions. I also want to wait for the next generation of technology to unfold, because I believe that the next year will bring some truly revolutionary changes that I'd hate to miss. I also must have time to seed my piggy bank. As a soon to be retiree, my resources are reducing quickly.

That's where I am at a spelunker...caver.

They better not---or I've lost already LOL.

Oops, David! Meant to say how crazy that load looks to me! I think they want to squash the little guy...or at least don't care if they do.

Beth, its out. Check the Canon forum--there are quite a few that have received theirs and there's a bit of gnashing of teeth there too LOL. I am going to wait primarily because I'm in a similar situation as you--I will commit to a lens system and know that what I do is for the REALLY long haul, so I'm biding my time. I'm not losing the chance to take good photographs--we know that. I know, when I move up, that I will have more flexibility with the interchangeable lens, more resolution, etc. However, for now, the E10 gives me terrific photos and lots of room to learn all the more I can.

BTW, I think we need an Oly Exx support group--Oh YEAH!!--this is it LOL.

Hi David

I didn't believe it until I was driving past the same spot this moring and I saw an even bigger truck. Had to walk back about half a mile even with the wide angle on the E10.

I estimate this one to be about 600 feet long - truly amazing.

MJP

I came upon this rig parked by the side of the road, and I've never
seen such a long truck load anywhere. Had to stop and grab a few
shots.

Looked to me like a humongous support beam for a bridge or
something. (Bill Harris, what would you guess?)

And this third shot REALLY gives you a sense of how long the load
was. This is all one vehicle:

I sure am glad I don't have to parallel-park that thing.

Happy Easter,

David

Wow! Hope he doesn't run into any hairpin curves . . . in fact I would think even a mild curve would be a big problem. That's truely amazing!

Whew! When I saw the subject line, I though you had posted a picture of my a$$.

Excellent and exceedingly interesting pictures....thanks David!

Obviously by the trees in the background. However, I guess the first one is real? Wow.
