That is strange. Here's what I see with my computer. Unallocated in only 15mb.

The way i read it, it is due to cloning the old drive to the new ssd, then you'll get a partion as large as the old disk. Hence the 1.4TB unallocated space, you can just format it and done extra drive. Or re-install windows.

That sounds good...I will try that and see if it works...

I don't think i have disks for W10 and think I upgraded from 7 when you could do via Microsoft

I will give your suggestion or try though and hopefully that will sort everything out.

Sincere thanks again Ray
Here you can find an iso for windows 10. Better upgrade to windows 11 though.

Windows 10 is end of life october this year!

windows 11 iso:

You can upgrade to windows 11 via the iso in windows 10, just start windows 10, klick on the iso and install will do the rest.....Given your pc is windows 11 ready.

Thank you so much Toermalijn.....absolutely brilliant

Massive thanks to all especially given my incorrect description in my original post.

Special thanks as always to my dear friend Toermalijn who came up with the answer and I now have a new volume all ready to be used.

So grateful for the help from all here where although a retouching forum, people have such an incredible wealth of skills and happy to share them.

Very best wishes to all

My personal preference would be to add the unallocated partition to C:. However, I believe that Disk Management can't do that because the unallocated space isn't adjacent to C:. Ther are freeware utilities that claim to be able to move partitions (Gparted is one), but I've never used one.

Some drive cloning software wouldn't have created this. The C: partition would have been resized.

No, some cloning software keeps the original size of the c drive. The rest must be formatted, as seen in the screenshot.

Re-install will solve the problem. If you wanted to expand the partition, it needs to be next to the other.
