I bought my nx1000 4 months ago and the last 2 weeks i notice that the camera sometimes changes modes without turning the upper dial. Had anyone experience something similar? It feels like it became realy sensitive and even with the slightest touch it changes mode, fore example most of the time i use apperture priority mode but occasionly when i touch the dial it changes from A to P or S.

I have the same problem on my NX200, even with my top jog-dial, very annoying when you work in A-mode...

It is a common problem, and seems to be fixed after putting a tiny little drop of "Kontakt40-oil " in it.

Did it yesterday, so can't say it is a "definite solution"

To be honest i am afraid to use something similar as oil in there, also i am a bit cautious because i do not think this would solve the problem. Please keep me posted if you see any improvements.

This seems to be a common issue forn samsung products. I have it with both my nx200 and my ex1. Nx300 is new, so I don't see this for the moment, while it never happened with my older nx100....

after only 4 months? get it repaired (or maybe they'll replace it) under warranty. that one's a no-brainer.

this thread has some pics posted for nx200 mode dial

it happens to me once in a really long while.

You may try blowing compressed air into that area before using any lubricant/solvent ect.
Great thread, detailed pics... I must have missed it.

On the other hand I am very cautious with blowing compressed air in it because I already have dust behind my NX200 back screen (only visible in the sun when off)

Sofar my NX200 works well again (both the PASM & jog-wheel), but I guess I'll have to wait a little longer to be sure.

I must say 'a drop" of oil was a bit exaggerated.

What I actually did was lubricating the wheels and then rotating them for a couple of minutes so the Kontakt40-oil could settle in. I did this while the jog-wheel wasn't working anymore. While rotating the wheel (with the oil) it started working again.

Keep in mind that this is a special oil for reviving electrical contacts (and maintaining them).

Has it started immediately after upgrading to firmware 1.13? Because if it has, then I have the same problem and it might be the firmware issue.

Problem is back again :-( (top jog wheel)

I put a little drop of contact-oil in again, but no luck, the jog-wheel refuses to work anymore.

On the other hand, the PASM-dial works flawlessly again.

Tomorrow I will try to dismantle the top deck of the body for closer inspection...

I think the problem started before i upgrade the firmware but now is more frequent. I do not know if the firmware made it worse or it got worse by the time.

I had the same problem with my NX1000, later i decided to take it to samsung service center as it is still in warranty period. After few days they told me it had something to do with one of component in the camera but i dont know what it was (because i am in Taiwan and my chinese is not so good to understand, hehe) and they replaced that broken component with new one. Now the problem has gone completely.

so my suggestion is u should take it to service center , cheers

Mine has the same issue which is currently with a service centre for repair.

Has anyones screen laquer started to rub off?

I have a Samsung NX1000 and had the same problem for several months. Today I took the risk of damaging my camera and I decided to take a cotton ball and soaked with alcohol... took the battery out of the camera and start rotating the dial while I put all the alcohol over the dial... after 5 minutes of dropping alcohol over the dial while rotating all the time, I left the camera for 10 minutes whiile the alcohol evaporated.

After that procedure, I no longer had that problem. I hope my experience can help others with the same problem.

Fixed: I used compressed air and it worked like a charm.

Every time I turned my nx1000 it moved to the "smart" setting even if it is set it to "M" (manual) or "P"(program) I was skeptical of the compressed air solution until I decided to try it. Xtreme Klean Duster with the hose/straw from Fry's is what I used (although I'm pretty sure you can use any other brand of canned air). After a couple of sprays to the dial, I turned the camera on and it stayed on the position it is set to. No need for oil or alcohol. And I' sure it will work again.

Just felt like paying it forward.

OH!!! Well, I'm having the same problem... Is it hardware right? snif, snif... :(

Just use the alcohol method described above. It has worked for me already for 2 different camera's!

I managed to fix my NX300 it using this tutorial !

Though I haven't replaced the part, just sprayed it with some "Electric contact cleaner" and let it dry for 5 minutes. I bought that spray in a local car parts store for less than $3.. Made sure that it's safe for plastic. Although I broke hdmi/usb plastic cover, everything works now. Had to disassemble and re-assemble a couple of times more, because some cables weren't properly attached.

So, it can be done. Let's see for how long it's going to work.
