I don't post messages at pbase, but a lot of folks here do. I've noticed several times that when pbase has problems, once I've tried to view a gallery there then I've got problems with images displaying on other sites. FI I tried to view (unsuccessfully) the "Cincy" pics, and following that the "night of the iguana" won't display on this site. If I close ALL IE windows and reopen, everything's fine.

What is pbase doing that screws up Internet Explorer? I've become very shy of viewing anything at pbase because then I may have to close the half-dozen IE windows I've got open in order to straighten things out.

notices the same thing. it's either cinci or pbase in general.

I have noticed the same thing and have found that often my cache or temp files must be full. In Win XP I can run "Disk Ckeanup" while I am still in Explorer and it brings things back to normal.

I think you have an issue with Bill Gates not pbase.

that MS software, and particularly IE, suck eggs. But nevertheless I'm curious what's unique about pbase that causes IE to fall on its face. Maybe it's nothing about pbase at all but something weird about particular images posted there. I usually don't have any problems viewing pbase images (other than slow response), but some pics like the cincy pics cause IE to self-destruct.

fwiw mozilla has no problems with the cincy pics. Guess maybe it's time to dump IE once and for all.

I just have a problem understanding how the richest man in the world can't afford to make software that works reliably.

I think a number of us had problems with her pbase site before--but no others. I remember that I had to reboot and then pbase was fine again. I'm not sure what the problem could be, but it seems it was a problem with her particular galleries before--and no other pbase galleries. I can't see them either but I can see mine in another IE window. This is def. not in my realm of 'known', but it occurred to me that the same problem occurred about a week with Lana's site--and I'm not sure if anyone ever figured it out--and I remember that it affected being able to see any other graphics until IE was rebooted.

I tried to find Mozilla to dl--lots of sites, but nothing I found except for developers to dl, BTW.

Yes, it appears to be with Lana's site. It just happened to me again--the IE window I had opened to something else was able to access pbase without a problem--the one where I tried to open the cincy pics would not show any graphic--or esp. anything in pbase.

Has anyone asked Slug??

If you really want to see the Cincy photos in IE (like I did) you can go to her photos, right click on one of the photos that you can't see...well where it is supposed to be anyway and select properties and copy the web address for the photo. Then open up another IE window and paste the address for the photo into that windows address bar and click go. You can't do it in the same window as where you copied the address as that window is now dead and pasting the address will do no good.

It worked for me and it is a lot of trouble but until someone knows why this is happening you can at least satisfy you curiosity.

I suspect pbase changed something. I certainly haven't changed IE. This started with a pbase gallery yesterday. The guy had to reload his pictures to pbase then everything was fine.

Why does Microsoft get blamed whenever anyone has a problem?

Jim - I just deleted all the Cincy picts and reloaded them. I would hope that someone who had this problem before would check and see if that made a difference. I save them in Photoshop 7 (use a Mac). Should I try to save them in a different program? When I first put up 2 other galleries there were no problems. Then the Cathedral gallery became a problem. I redid some of the pictures and reposted. They seemed fine. This time i just deleted what was there and reloaded.

It seems it might be worthwhile to ask Slug at pbase about this since I've never had the same problem before with pbase. Lana pointed out it started with her cathedral pics--which I where I first had the problem--then the cincy pics.

Hmmmmmmm.

I've been having this problem with selected pbase galleries for at least several weeks. Only a small pct of galleries seem to have a problem. Like has been suggested, I can view the images fine in IE if I just put in the url to the image, or just right-click and dl the image. This makes me suspect that the problem lies with the CSS style sheets for the page. The only difference I noted in the html for Bogie's gallery that worked and Lana's that didn't is that Lana used a title and description for the gallery. Could this possibly be it?

Still not working here with IE. I don't think it's the images because I can point IE straight at the pics and they display fine.
