No image stabilization?

I especially like the compact size of the 100F. I currently use an Olympus OM-D EM-10, which is fairly compact and has IS, but I'm tempted by the fixed lens idea (plus having a camera that's 24 Mp instead of 16). The other Fujis are much larger.

If your sensor is wobbling around in your camera, aren't you afraid that it might get misaligned? How reliable are IBIS bodies last compared to regular ones? Seems like a problem waiting to happen.
It may seem that way when described in those terms, but in reality I never had an issue with any of my Olympus cameras over the years I shot them. The sensor never got "misaligned." In fact, it was a useful feature.

Seems a good advise Truman, When I was going through some of my photographs taken with XE2, I was surprised to find some that were spoilt for no reason, despite having perfect conditions. Post facto, the only thing I can attribute it to is OIS.

Refer below one such sample:

46f5ff53743f41ef9040ae51acb4ddda.jpg

The only thing that is not in favour is OIS being ON and 1/550 speed. Or maybe the shutter was released in one shot without waiting for the focus and exposure confirmation.

I'm surprised that a camera like this doesn't have IS. Is there any specific reason why it's not on this camera?

Fuji's excuse. Interesting. Well, they could always go the digital route with IBIS, crop the image a bit and stabilize. Use that in conjuntion with IBIS and the corners won't be any less quality then the rest of the photo.
Sadly I agree that it sounds like an excuse.

As I mentioned in a previous post :
The Sony E mount is 46mm, and offers IBIS for a full frame sensor.

Fuji's X mount is 44mm (5% smaller), while the sensor is 50% smaller, I don't understand when Fuji claims their mount diameter is the limiting factor in their implementation of IBIS! If their reason was something more plausible, I wouldn't be here posting on this thread.
Unless I am missing something here, they could go physical IBIS and not have to resort to digital IBIS.
Sure, Sony did that, and they very likely also hold the patents ;-) So, when Fuji says they can't do it without affecting image quality more than they are willing to accept, perhaps they mean they can't do it by not resorting to mechanisms that are under patent protection.

Regardless, I think (some of) the lenses would have to be replaced. They show significant fall off already as it is. IBIS would require even larger image circles, thus larger lenses. One of Fuji's prime objectives is to provide small and light lenses with very high IQ. I don't think one can have it all, and thus perhaps the decision, from the start, not to consider IBIS.

Or paying Sony to license said technology...

Thereby increasing the price of already pricey cameras!

In body OIS, never had it and never needed it. I am old, creaky, unstable and yet somehow I manage to get perfectly sharp images from my Fujifilm cameras.

The market is a great and fun place. Some manufacturers offer inbody OIS. If that is your thing buy a camera that has it. Fujifilm, for whatever reason chooses not to, and I sold all my other gear knowing this and am quite satisfied with Fujifilm.

Enjoy your gear and choose what works for you. No sense in complaining all the time...

I would not hold my breath. I think you need to look elsewhere. Fuji's current offering don't satisfy your needs.

Danger of getting banned if you use that word on this board.

Let's just say I'm extremely suspicious of the intent of this ridiculous post. In my opinion, moderators should erase these types of posts the moment they see them. Clearly there was an intent to incite a board riot. Silly in so many ways. No new poster should be crafting posts like that. It clearly was done with nefarious intent. Best not to respond. I didn't until I saw so many piled up.

Welcome to internet forums, Greg. If we banned every post that talked about the evils of Adobe, green mush, no in-body OIS, etc., there wouldn't be much left to read (OK, perhaps a slight exaggeration). Rehashing these topics is a fact of life here (and similar issues in almost any other forum out there) and the best bet for you and others that feel the same way is to ignore them, don't contribute to the discussion (and the length of the thread), and simply move on.

Just because something has been worked and reworked here doesn't mean that there aren't nuggets of information that might prove useful, particularly to forum newbies. Posting a thread like this does not instantly make someone a troll, and the fact that it's from a newbie makes it likely that they might not have the long history of reading about this topic that longer term members like you and me have. Best to simply take a moment for a nice eye roll and just move on to the next post. :-)

How's this one? No charge for reusing it.

🙄

Maybe then people could post PHOTOS! Or discuss locations. Or offer tips on how to best use Fujifilm equipment. Nah...

I think I could simply copy and paste your post to reply to you and guess what, it would work perfectly !

Or maybe you were referring to your own post in fact ?? Makes sense then.
