I think I may have asked this question before but can't find the answer.

If I set the focus to DMF/M on the switch on the front of the camera, I would expect to be able to manually focus on a bird perch I have set up and not have to think about the point of focus again until I switch the camera off. But that's not what happens with my Mark4. All too often the focus point switches to somewhere else in the frame or if I move the camera so the perch is not dead centre, then the focus point moves when I press the shutter and I have to start again with the focus ring to bring the perch back into focus. What am I not understanding?

Are you setting it to DMF or M? They're two different settings.

Ah thanks Nigel - there was one further turn available on the mechanical switch.

I wrote this about rx100's, but it would be a nice setup on an RX10 also

AF/MF Toggle, MF Setup

Shoot AF all day, want MF, a single button press, another single buttom press takes you back to AF, never take your eye of your EVF

Are you taking advantage of your Fn Button Menu?

Fn Button is the KEY to using any RX Camera

lots of other info here, most of rx100 info applies to RX10 in concept
