Kodak Challenge 1: Hyper Architecture

Now this depends on exactly how the sheep is posed and what it's doing...

Well, here we go!
Welcome to Kodak CHALLENGE 1... And the theme is 'Hyper Architecture'.

What does THAT mean?... Well, it means whatever you think it means,
and whatever your fellow voters think it means when they see your
photos. But as a few pointers I'd say that your photos should use
unusual crops, perspectives or post-processing to bring out the
architectural form or nature of your subject. Of course, the
subject doesn't have to be a building - just anything with
interesting and 'architectural' form. The header pix in the Pbase
gallery will give an idea but NOT a lead... and please note that
they cannot be voted for!

The challenge will run from NOW! The shooting and entry period
starts as of this moment, and will run until 1200 London time on
Monday 14th June.

Don't forget to read the rules but the most important thing to note
is that there's a max of three entries per gallery per person
(that's six per challenge) and that there are two galleries per
challenge. The COMPETITION GALLERY is the 'main course' - it's for
pix taken during the challenge period and with a Kodak SLR camera.
The EXHIBITION GALLERY is for all other pics - raid your back
catalogue or use another camera.

The prize, courtesy of Jay/Kodak, will be something relevant and
useful and will be awarded to the winner of the competition
gallery. That winner will also go on to choose the theme for and
moderate the next challenge.

Thanks also to Pbase for donating the space to host the challenges:
Pbase is a fantastic way of displaying and sharing your work and if
you don't have an account already then please 'support our sponsor'
!.....

Voting starts as soon as the shooting period ends, and will run
until 1200 London time on Thursday 17th June. Results will be
announced very soon thereafter... but since I'm moving house on the
18th, bear with me!

The winner of the first challenge will moderate the next one...

In the meantime, please check out some Help and Rules info (sorry
it's not pretty - I'm pretty tied up right now) and then post your
entries at:

http://www.pbase.com/kodak_challenge/

Any questions or observations, please post to this thread and I
will endeavour to respond quickly. Also, please feel free to
announce your postings in this thread so as to alert others to them.

Best of luck!

My pics are up, hope I've done it OK.

I'm off to the middle of nowhere in the morning and won't be back online until the end of next week. I'm looking forward to a rush of entries over the weekend and to a packed gallery when I get back!

Good luck everybody, and thanks to Tim for organising it.

Tim,

I was not happy with my 2nd image. I deleted it and added another interior shot from the Seattle Public Library, taken the same day. It's a bit more abstract. Just an FYI per the rules -- the order number of the deleted image was 120.

Thanks,
Clint

Tim

I managed to upload an image (the EXHIBITION gallery - I hope to get an SLR\c soon.....), but I have failed to include text (author,EXIF etc.).

Is there any way to add text, or will I have to delete & start again ?

EXIF isn't required for the exhibition gallery, since it's mainly there to show that entrants into the Comp gllery have complied with the dates and equipment requirements - but if you'd like to add basic details (camera, exposure etc) as a caption or comment, that'd be usefult to others viewing your work.

Thanks!

Tim

HI Tim

I'd like you to appreciate how much of an effort this has been - we were out very late last night (3am) and I got up at 7am to try and get some shots for this damn contest (and I'm not certain my system would have been clear of the demon either!).

Not sure about the hype, or the architecture come to that, but I will have something to show by tomorrow night.

I finally figured out how to post a picture to my own newly subscribed folder on Pbase but I just can't find the sentence that tells me how to get to the page where I can follow upload instructions for this competition.

Our instructions include EVERY thing except uploading. Yes, I can see how we are supposed to add comments and do all the other things, but how do I get in to the page where I enter my file to upload ?

I got it uploaded to my new folder under the name of Hans Marsen

add a new image to a gallery

The instructions for this competition have no link to the above header on the instruction page.

I'm told how to comment, delete etc, but NOT how to add an image.

I have been trying for hours now to post this image, but I'm too dumb.
