Beerenauslese -- German version of Sauternes. Made from rotten Riesling grapes if expensive, from rotten Muller-Thurgau if not (like mine.)Hi
:^?
dunno what a Beerenauslese is - I'm afraid .
Know what you mean. Mine was 35.00 USD and was the most expensive bottle of wine I ever bought. (Note that all the wine snobs are now laughing at me from behind their 300.00 Chateau d' Yquem.)As for expensive over here, well, there's BARSAC and there's barsac - and > ours is definitely barsac!
Oh neato! Never had the opportunity to go abroad myself. London is the top of my list, though. Followed by Vienna and Paris. The other day I was thinking, wow, you guys in the UK could hop a plane a t Heathrow and have lunch in Paris, then go back in one day. Obviously not something practical, but hey? The Chunnel might even make it cheaper, I suppose.prefer the montbazillac myself, but maybe it's because I've been
there!
'Plonk' ? What's that? Britslang for run-of-the-mill wine? I love it!?!kind regards

(who usually drinks 'plonk')
Take care,

(Who usually drinks 'plonk', too)
Oh, don't be so self-deprecating! I know absolutely noone IRL who'dhehehe
I'm afraid I'm not really in the same league as you - when I say
'classy' I mean classy for me!
have a clue what a Montbazillac or a Barsac is. (They'd probably
think I fired the bartender if I started muttering about 'Barsac.')
Well, I'll shamefully admit to only having a Beerenauslese on handthere's some Montbazillac and a bottle of Barsac - neither of them
remotely grand vintages.
at present.
Same here. I caved in and drank my Barsac some time ago, andone day maybe!
haven't yet replaced it. They probably aren't cheap in the UK
either!
Dang. Makin' me hungry again. Just found a recipe for an apple cakeso - what's for desert :^)
served with Roquefort -- that might do the trick for a Barsac,
methinks.
and to you,kind regards

Oooh.... Oneophiles abound. Whatcha' got there, Sauternes,:^)
Didn't think you would - s'true though - I may be old, but I can
make it to the wine rack in the house - this one has mostly malt
whiskey and gin - together with a couple of bottles of classier
desert wine.
kind regards
