Hi

I have a Z6 that I got modified - basically the sensor IR filter was removed.

I recently got an BW IR-cut filter 486 - I had assumed that if I attach this filter to a lens, I would be able to use the Z6 as a normal camera. Maybe this was naive - it seems that the filter makes no difference whatsoever.

Was my expectation incorrect?

I am told a BG-40 filter works well, but looking at the Kolari website - I see that the BW 486 filter should also work. So I am wondering if the filter I bought is faulty.

Were you testing in an infrared rich environment? Like outdoors in direct sunlight?

You’re likely to get little to no infrared indoors, at dawn or dusk, or with overcast weather.

In your test pictures, what is your source of infrared energy?

So far the test shots were indoor - resulting image (with or without filter) has a red cast.

I am going to have a more detailed look, and check the WB settings. I will upload sample images.

My initial tests were indoors. I haven't kept the images, I will do more tests and share the results.

Looking at the work done, I see that a 720 NM filter was put in front of the sensor; my understanding is that this blocks visible light ... and that's why no matter what I put on the lens, its the same light spectrum.

My bad that I didn't clearly understand what was done.

Presumably I can use this camera mostly for IR B&W photography now.
