Anybody not have ANY issues with K-5?

If you open the box and there's an issue, just close the same box and return it. That's it! You don't keep it and send it to warranty. You just return it.

A camera is a consumer electronic, just like a tv and a cell phone. It's a commodity. There's a percentage of every camera and every other electronic device sold that have issues. Guess where people go to gripe about it? It seems a little ridiculous to buy a camera, then look on a forum where obviously people are going to post issues, and then be scared to open the box, because you'd obviously every camera, and they sell thousands, will come broken then.

Well, my K-5 is here. Checked the shutter count...I had shot #1 and the camera was manufactured on 1/25/12. I was feeling good and then I looked more closely through the viewfinder. A huge spec of dust or something, right center! Talk about annoying. I'm pretty sure it's something that can be blown away, but I've NEVER had to do this with any camera I have ever owned.

Otherwise, I'm pretty darn happy. I just need more time to get out and shoot!

Oh the humanity!

I have 2 K5 's...Yesterday they were both working just great with no problems...Today neither one is functioning at all. (of course I haven't turned either of them on yet today) :D

See what you are looking at

Have had my silver K5 for over a year and no major problems. I have noticed that the in camera level... well isn't, it's a couple of degrees off. That isn't enough for me to send it in for a service as I don't really use it. Apart from that it's rock solid!

I ordered my dslr, received it in the mail, charged the battery, got ready to take pictures, and...nothing! It was DOA! wait a second... that was my konica minolta k5.

Ok, I remember now. I got my new dslr and it was working fine for a few weeks, then all of a sudden, the shutter button got stuck in the "up" position! I just could not depress it and the camera would not take pictures! Had to send it in. oh, wait, silly me. That was my Nikon D40X.

Ok, I got one, I got one. Every once in a while I try to takes a picture and...I get an error message on the top lcd and the camera locks up! The camera becomes useless until I remove the lens, then reattach it...oh, cr#p, thinking of something else again, that was both my D80 and D90.

Come to think of it, my pentax k5 has been perfect.

I have problems with the built in level. Its not level. I have sent it in once and fixed it, but now its off again. It would be nice if I could calibrate it myself.

This of course also means that the auto horizon is useless.

Is this important? No. But irritating.

I use the evaluating auto exposure. It has a tendency to over expose sometimes. Or - maybe not over expose - but rather expose so that the brightest parts clip. There might be a good reason - but I do not always agree with the reason.

I'm not good enough for the camera. It's been essentially flawless...unlike me :(.

I woke up this morning expecting that my K5's would have made my coffee, cleaned my apartment and made me some fresh Expresso Coffee!!! But NO, it didn't...I am so disappointed. I called Pentax and they said they would send me someone from their office to take care of my issues.

I forgot what her name was, but everything did work out in the end...

I've had mine for over a year, with just over 15000 shutter actuations.

No problems. It gets banged around a bit at sporting events, even dropped it a couple of times, yet it hasn't had any issues.

I use it in conjunction with a Canon 7d, and I keep telling all my friends the 7d is a great camera, but I still prefer the K5.

All manufacturers have QC issues. Pentax no more or less than others.

I have loads of Pentax gear, including SDM lenses, haven't had any issues. I doubt I could be that lucky!

Regards
How do you compare AF from the K5 to the 7D?
Thanks

I don't have many more issues with my K-5 than I have/had with any other camera I own/ed.
