Anybody not have ANY issues with K-5?

17,000+ pics in just about every condition you can think of, zero problems. I've owned at least a dozen slrs over the decades, film and digital, and this is the best camera I've ever had.

I've had mine only six weeks but I haven't had a problem. In that six weeks, I've used it more than most use their camera in months. It's ducrable, comfortable, and fun to use.

Enjoy your camera it will be a great addition. Still learning after a year all that it can do.

no problem at allo

Well, my K-5 is here. Checked the shutter count...I had shot #1 and the camera was manufactured on 1/25/12. I was feeling good and then I looked more closely through the viewfinder. A huge spec of dust or something, right center! Talk about annoying. I'm pretty sure it's something that can be blown away, but I've NEVER had to do this with any camera I have ever owned.

Otherwise, I'm pretty darn happy. I just need more time to get out and shoot!

I want to switch off the screen when I take pictures but have not found the buttons for that yet.
I suppose it's me, as has been the case with any issue I though I had.
So basically no issues here and a great admiration for the designers.

I love this camera. The only complaints are I wish the LCD screen could be flipped to protect it as it has a few scratches, and my button to change the lens fell off & of course it was lost. Now I just use the small screwdriver that comes with those eyeglass frame repair kits to change the lens.

It depends on what You expect from the camera. Ideal camera for everything just do not exist.

The biggest 'issue' of mine is not very accurate af. But this is probably because of the lens (now they are in repair), and is quite common in all brands (APS sized sensors). FF size cameras have much more accurate AF (probably because of comparative smaller AF sensors?).

Many users are happy with K5 there. I still think, that this is one of the best APS size sensor camera, but the system as a whole have much points where should be improved to be competitive in the future. Competition in this segment is very strong.

I've recently seen a few comments about this lens-release button issue. Can anyone post a photo of what's left after the lens-release button falls off? I'd be curious to know if it's a part that breaks off, a press-fit that loosens or perhaps the button just unscrews itself from a threaded socket?

Has anyone been quoted a price to repair or replace the lost button?

EDIT: Holy cr@p - I Googled "K-5 lens-release button" and got a bunch of hits. This issue may be more common that I thought.

My third Pentax DSLR and the best! What a joy to use! A masterpiece instrument of technology, a skillfully crafted tool to photo God's great creation!!! I give thanks every time I use it.

Have had 2 K5s for a year now-- no problems w/ either-- and much shooting too. Knock wood?;> )

Cheers. Ernie

People who read the User's Manual have less issues than those who don't.

Are you kidding? Who has time for that? Quicker to post a complaint on DPreview and let some other manual reader supply the answer to the problem. LOL
