Anybody not have ANY issues with K-5?

I have owned the following Pentax dslr cameras: *istDS, K10D, K20D, K-7 and K-5. The K-5 is the best. It is so good that I brought a second one. My first K-5 is 14 month old and has about 20,000 photos on it. The second one was brought in May and has about 10,000 photos on it. The only minor issue might be over exposuring when bounce flashing., but then again after a few firmware updates I don't think I even have that issue anymore.

I don't think your on a 'consumer' forum ??

predominately a hardware forum that historically banned image postings.!

I wouldn't look for unbiased opinion in a forum such as this, Views have been highly polarised by deliberate antagonistic standpoints by both for and against individuals.

its a mixture of lynch mob and MardiGra.
I don't think it's pointless. It's what consumer forums are for before they became diluted and largely useless because people became fans of products, rather than users of products, able to give impartial feedback.
Thanks, everyone, for your positive feedback. I know threads like this drive some of you nuts, but I've just spent $2500 on my K-5 kit and I want to have peace of mind. Is this thread pointless? Absolutely. Am I glad that I got such positive feedback? Yes. Thank you.

I've had it six months without issue, but after a routine battery charge-up today, it gave me a few flops before calming down after the battery became less than fully charged as reported by others. I'm hoping it doesn't get worse, but it probably will. Sorry to inerrupt the happy parade, but that's my story. I still love it anyway! BTW, the serial number starts with 40.

Well the carrier droped mine off today as well. As we read this I AM WAITING FOR THE BATTERY TO CHARGE. Do you think I should wait for it to fully charge or go and give it a go.

I was just thinking how few issues people have with K-5 bodies. Mine is certainly the most reliable of all the Pentax bodies I've owned. It's still developed a couple of faults though - a tiny hole in the weather sealing under the rear screen, and an ISO button which requires finger-bending to operate. But mine is definitely the exception. It's due to go for service under warranty.

Oh, and bounced flash operation is unpredictable, this is a known issue.

Personally, I wouldn't have any worries, it's pretty well sorted for a Pentax.

I've had mine for about 6 months.

One day the shutter got stuck on the 2nd exposure of a 3 shot bracketing. I had to remove the battery of the body to get it back to normal. I was using a third party battery grip so that might have been the cause. It's worth noting it got stuck 3 or 4 times in the same fashion that day. Issue has not reoccured.

Mine was perfect

So it's not exactly a QC issue...

But I wish K-5 had a regular white light for its AF Assist Light. I think the green light throws people off at times while the white light more easily blends with more environments. Somewhat counteracts the discreteness of the K-5 shutter.

I have had numerous freeze ups after a battery change...this is very aggravating when you buy an item & is defective from new.

I tried the KR & was given 3 of them on return due to defective e wheels. Good cameras, when they work.

I think they admitted the sensor stain issue and later issues have been corrected.

I've had mine for over a year, with just over 15000 shutter actuations.

No problems. It gets banged around a bit at sporting events, even dropped it a couple of times, yet it hasn't had any issues.

I use it in conjunction with a Canon 7d, and I keep telling all my friends the 7d is a great camera, but I still prefer the K5.

All manufacturers have QC issues. Pentax no more or less than others.

I have loads of Pentax gear, including SDM lenses, haven't had any issues. I doubt I could be that lucky!
