I bought a new Moto phone recently because Android 11 went out of support. It was probably unnecessary. Even old Android is less susceptible to security hacks than Windows.

Android 15 seems to offer nothing important that 11 didn't have. I liked Android 11 better because the battery lasted longer. More color and decorations in 15, but inconsequential.

Android 11 was just about perfect. Aside from battery and possibly silly AI features, 15 is nice. I also have an iPhone SE and like the Android phones better. Everything seems well-designed instead of haphazard. Oddball things happen in iOS that I can't explain. Possibly the UI has been accreted over the years and needs a redesign.

This morning Google Assistant was replaced by Google Gemini, which went hog wild. I could not turn off the loud sounds or reach the power-off button. So I returned to Google Assistant, then disabled even that. I don't need assistance.

It's fun to say "Hey Siri" and ask a question, but I seldom get the answer I want. Fortunately I can run Google search from Safari. Voice input is less accurate than Android's though. Also the iOS spell corrector is a piece of cr@p.

I can't speak about Android 11. But with Android 15, the battery of my Pixel 9 pro (not the XL) lasts for 2 days, which I find excellent.

But I'm not permanently using my phone or take photos. I don't play games, nor do I look at movies. So...

And like you, I don't need an assistant!

I have the Pixel 8 pro, Samsung Flip 6 and a motorola G 5g from 2023. All three run essentially the same. I agree with the older versions of android being just as good as the new ones. Android and google have Play Protect running in the background at all times so it's essentially just as safe as the newest versions. The updates that come through are for various other things that the phone has, but even then as long as play protect is active your phone is safe.

Siri is the dumbest of all the assistants. Has been since it's purchase from the original company that had it. I actually had "siri" on one of my older android devices before apple had it. They purchased it in 2005 I think, and never updated it since. ha ha.

Apple maps, siri, their new Ai "assistant" were and are all terrible compared to the google counterparts.
