Welcome to the Weekly Image Thread!

This thread will appear every Saturday (GMT). If the thread is nearing full before the next Saturday, I may start a new thread and carry on until it fills or the next Saturday arrives and it is reasonably full in which case I will start another. Confused, so am I! From time to time the start could be delayed if I am unavailable.

Although this Weekly thread is in the Olympus SLR forum, we openly welcome users of all brands and models.

Please:

  1. Reply to this post and change the TITLE!
  2. Please reply to at least one other contribution, your replies encourage posters!!!
  3. If asked, please share your processing techniques or technical details.
  4. Please show the EXIF if possible. Please identify the lens used regardless of which camera was used to take the image. This helps people form opinions of the lens used with the body to possibly influence future acquisitions.
  5. If special lighting was used to create your image stating what was done may help others.
Thanks for joining and contributing this week.

If you post a pano that is on its own and not part of set of images feel free to post it as a reply to this post. I will not always have one ready so don't wait for me to post one before you!

Nothing new in bloom. I still have not made it out to the hydrangeas. I went out to shoot them a couple of times but got side tracked each time. The mosquitos here are awful at the moment. The grass has been growing from the recent rains and the mower is still out of action at the John Deere facility. A new 'dash' had to be ordered from the States and it is a long weekend. I am considering buying a new to me tractor. Price dependant. Unbelievably a new model the same as the one I have with the mower deck is about $24000 CAD, plus sales tax of 13%. More than a new Hyundai Elantra with air conditioning, heat, an enclosed interior and 120 more horsepower. Also a suspension that stops you from getting spinal issues!

an alternative version of the one above. Flower colouration is a better match to the actual flower.

All very attractive Paul. The last has a sandy beach visible. Perhaps it accounts for the buildings partially visible in the image.

Thanks for your offer to supply me with an almost endless supply of cloudy and rainy days. Dave has also offered the same. The generosity of forum members knows no bounds.

Rain is good, too much is another story though!

Nicely done panos Craig. In all these images you show of that area there is only one row of houses visible. Is there more housing behind that row or is that it? Water in front and a nice place to walk about so it looks like a quiet enjoyable place to live. Not CR though!

Thank you, Andrew. I spent a bit of time on these. The GF system shines on landscapes and can really make some nice panos.

There are houses beyond those in the photo. The open area is a golf course. It's not Costa Rica.

there's a few houses Andrew and a small harbour u have to go very early in the morning during the day it’s really to busy for photography 🙂

What a magnificent series. I think I prefer the first, but these all excellent. You will never run out of photos your geography.

Beautiful series, Andrew. Your garden keeps blooming. I particularly like the second and third images.

Too bad about the tractor. That some serious money. Perhaps some goats or sheep might be a lower cost alternative. Perhaps, a lawn service with people?

Thanks Craig.

The previous owner had sheep which he tied to posts spread around the front. He took out the posts but left the holes. They sheared the sheep and he slaughtered some in the basement on a workbench covered in stainless steel. The guy was a butcher by trade. A large part of the property he had plowed by the farmer next door each spring. When we bought it I mowed it and it turned to grass/weed mix. At least it is green!

A lot of work to maintain but our live at home 43 year old son is now doing the mowing. I enjoyed mowing but for now it is not possible. A lawn service will be necessary if he can find an affordable house of his liking.

The LED RGB light I've been using doesn't have enough power. I got a larger, much more powerful model, Luxli Cello 2. It is large and heavy and has a large external Sony L series video camera battery which can be changed easily. The old one has an internal battery, so when it's drained the light must be charged for a few hours. The new light pops the flowers and I can set the color temperature to pop the colors I want to pop.

The little light is good for around 3 feet and drops off within that range. The big light is good for over 10 feet and will give more light than needed at that distance. It is powerful enough to change the color temperature of ambient light even in bright sunlight.

I should have bought it earlier in the season. Rich

These all done with light set at 3,900° K which is the approximate and variable color temp of low sun golden light.

Congratulations on your new acquisition. It does look big and heavy. Did you purchase the "Barndoor Kit" to go with it?

The roses are gorgeous.
