Cameras
Guests are welcome to use still cameras for personal use at SoFi Stadium. Tripods, monopods, “selfie sticks” and cameras with a lens longer than 6” (detachable or non-detachable) will NOT be permitted into the stadium. Video cameras and video recording of events with other devices at SoFi Stadium are prohibited. See PROHIBITED ITEMS.

And under 'Prohibited Items'

Prohibited Items
• Cameras (including with detachable lenses) and video-recording devices that are professional-grade (that is, have detachable lenses greater than 6 inches)
So the question is what is a 'professional-grade' camera, and do they do a cut-throat, no exception enforcement of 6 inch lens, and is the 6 inch fully exnteded or retracted? the lens is about 6.5 inches long retracted. I guess it's up to the security you run into.

"Video cameras and video recording of events with other devices at SoFi Stadium are prohibited." - Well, a lot of people were recording video with their cellphone anyway.

I took my R10 and RF 100-400. Worst thing could be I get turned away, and have to make a round trip to my car to put the camera back (about 20 minute walk one way, even after paying $85 for parking!)

I didn't think they would have any measuring stick to measure, but oh I was wrong. They actually had a little paper sign with policy written on it, that is the size of the bag you are allowed to take in. So the lady in front of me had a bag that was about inch larger both ways, and she goes.. I'm a mom and I need a larger bag for.... whatever.. and they let her in. And my turn.. the security looks at my camera and goes uh oh.. that's too big.. and puts the measuring sign over the lens.. I'm like.. c'mon man it's close enough.. and he smiles and says.. enjoy the show! Maybe it depends on the security, but they don't overly enforce the policy.

Below are few results with this combo. The challenge was, I was sitting closer to the moon than the stage, and the poor lighting condition.

I've never brought my R5 in, and haven't yet had a chance to try my R50 + RF-S 18-150, but I have had luck with M3/M6/M6II + EF-M 55-200 for a number of concerts, including Metallica, shot from far away like you. Never tried anything larger than that, 100-400 is pretty good!

One time at a ZZTop concert the security lady stopped me from taking in M6II, and I had to make a trek back to the car for my backup camera, a Panasonic DC-ZS80 with 24-720mm. Trading image quality for longer reach, oh well...

Nice shots!

Thanks for sharing your experience, Do you have any pictures you took with ZS80 that you can share with? I was actually shopping for one of those super zooms but decided not to. Thankfully, I was able to take my camera in. Up next is Guns N Roses.. but who knows if they'll let me,

The ZS80 is pretty reasonable, small, and it does RAW, but the 20MP and small sensor do take a toll. Here are concert pics with it, hope they're useful:

ZZTop at a relatively small venue: https://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/66216909

Metallica w/SF Symphony at a much larger venue: https://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/63079171

And Rolling Stones from even further away (this posting has my first impressions of the ZS80): https://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/63027629

Apologies for links to the Panasonic forum; to bring this back to Canon here are a few concert photos with the EF-M 55-200: https://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/65759423

Hoping to take a few with the R50 as well someday.
I was actually shopping for one of those super zooms but decided not to. Thankfully, I was able to take my camera in. Up next is Guns N Roses.. but who knows if they'll let me,
Nice, hope they do!

But if not a camera like the ZS80 can make a good backup...

I never would have guessed someone could bring in a 100-400 lens, but that smaller RF format certainly has some advantages when needed.

The pics came out quite good.

I was curious when I saw the photo of Rob Trujillo, how did he get out on that small platform surrounded by spectators? They certainly got to enjoy a close-up view for pics and videos.

They look great! Thank you for sharing.

That platform was moving. I think there were crew pushing the platform.

One thing I found years ago when I tried getting into a concert with my 80d and EF 70-300 DO was that when I got turned away at one entrance because the person manning the door deemed it pro gear was to try a different entrance where the person waved me right through. If there’s more than one entrance it’s worth a shot.

Lovely pictures! I was thinking of getting the 100-400 for my kiddo’s concerts, but thought it would likely be too slow. My 18-150 isn’t quite long enough. Anyway, looks like you did well in tough lighting conditions. What sort of ISO did you push to? Apologies if there is a way to see the data on the photos - happy to learn how if i am just missing the data.

Not sure whether there's a way to see in "Mobile" mode (someone speak up if there is!) but on a computer you can see it on hover, or when you click on the image on the details view to the side.

On a mobile device you can switch into "Desktop Mode" by scrolling all the way down, there's a setting. This will allow you to see the pages as if on a desktop.

Thanks! I started with 12,800 but lowered to 6,400 and 3,200 later. And some 1,600. But I think most were shot at 3,200. Also I applied LRC denoise - this works really well.

You can hover over your mouse on desktop to see the EXIF information.

Thanks Ali and jayk! Will get off the phone and onto my computer. :)

I find 3200 and even 5000 is pretty good even without the AI denoise, so very useable. Thanks! Looks like a 100-400 and dxo pl6 are on the list for Christmas!

Interesting. I would never even consider shooting a concert at f8 to keep the ISO lower. At far distances, f4 should be enough.
