Jono Slack

HI Kelly

thank you - not sure it's so super myself, but Jens had extracted a promise out of me - and a promise is a promise !

first of all I thought it didn't come with the RM1, so I used the one from the E100 - but then I found it with the Li batteries inside the lens hood.

Seems it comes with everything the E20 had - including the now insulting 16mb SM card!

Yep - the boat shot is actually me in 20 years :-)

Hi Bill
well - it was bound to be an anti-climax wasn't it - but I had promised.

The stove and beams are pretty good though!

Wow, the title of this message is exact, short and to the point.
Refreshing.

But who is the guy in the photo and what is wrong with his neck?
What is in his right hand, his car keys maybe? I wonder what camera
was it taken with and who took it. Could it be the dog?

I say forget get the guy, he is boring, but the let talk about
the wood burning cast iron fire place. Now that looks like a classic.

Well the mystery of what Jono Slack looks like is over and
thank god he did not try it with a metal kettle!

Thanks for the good laugh and smile.

Cheers
Bill

DAVID NIVEN!!!

At least I'm not as old as him :^)

Of course, the shots of the boys have been around, so I suppose there is something to go on.

No idea about the E20, except that write times are pretty slow, and I'm not sure I like the gold bits!

I'll report later.

Hi there Jono,

Thank you for the visual introduction. Much appreciated.

As others have said.....a flash of intuitive recognition. You are
what you are. Great similarity to your boys, of course, as well.

Perhaps just a tad less David Niven than I had imagined. But all
to the better.

Now.....how the heck is the E-20?

David

HI

I shouldn't have started this one - one of the bees in my bonnet - I once read that on an average evening of american television there were 17 murders and .5 seconds of bare breast

As for the office - it's great -

here's another shot of the inside

and here is the outside (on the left, with the house on the right)

bit different from your part of the world, but very nice.

HI BKKSW

:^)

don't you allow people over 100k with beards on your television set
then!
Only in old biker movies and The Blues Brothers reruns. American
television if very plastic, but at the same time no where near as
"real" with showing nudity as European television.. The best
television show I've see was "bath house review" while stationed in
Japan. Lot's of young things showing off the best bath houses..
Totally nude of course, but normal programming couldn't show it..
Go figure! Anyway, on American television overweight people are
few and far between, unless you watch Oprah..
Thanks - it was rather a desperate picture actually, but at least
the camera came up with the goods!
It did. No doubt. Interesting office space though, maybe someday
you'd share pictures of it?

BKKSW

Hi Jono -

Nice to "see" you! Somehow I expected you to be about 50k's
heavier and have a beard, and now I see someone who could be on my
telieviision.. Nice picture!

BKKSW

Too realistic huh?

I toyed with the idea of another cover up job, but I thought it had gone on for too long anyway - so - yeah - wrinkles and all! (and scrawny neck too!).

kind regards
jono slack
very nice photo, bit to realistic thow.. dont ya think?
Only thing I have noticed is that if you put it on manual focus it
doesn't focus automatically . . . duh!

Jono,

It's always nice to know who you're talking to..

I've been runing around in camera stores for several hours today to look for a compact digicam. Can't say I've become more clever about what to choose though... None of them really makes me wow ! The one I liked most was the Sony DSC-P5 but I hate the memory stick... The CP775 was nice in the hands but the pic quality was a little disapointing. Then I tried the Ixus and the C-40. The C-40 was very nice in hand but as I said before, I don't want the SM card.

I wanted to look at the Canon A-20 as well but it was sold out everywhere. Do you know anything about it ? It seems to be a little plastic but it takes CF cards and normal AA batteries.

Anyway, thanks again for sharing your portrait :-)

Cheers

HI Jens
I did - didn't I :^(

Sorry it wasn't a shock - at least that would have made it more
interesting :-)

My E20 arrived this afternoon - true to my word, self portrait
first!.

I'll post more about it when I've done some fiddling about.

jono slack
You did it, I don't believe my eyes :-)

You look just like I expected as you already gave a hint with the
previous b/w photo taken seveal years ago. Nice self portrait !

Does this mean that your E-20 has arrived ?

Well done !

HI Jens
Just a small word of warning from the wise (!!?).

I went through the 'small camera to carry around' bit - none of them wowed me, so I thought the G2, although not so small, would at least fit the bill. But it didn't either. I would rather carry around something big than put up with the shortcomings. I now have a really nice, small billingham bag which takes E10, wallet, phone, pda, tobacco tin, and either the FL40 or a couple of lenses - that's what I carry around with me now.

OTOH I wouldn't worry about SM - it's in lots of things, and you can use it as a second memory in the E10 and E100. When I'm on a trip I always write to a 128mb sm, and then edit onto a CF or microdrive for backup purposes in the evening - works well.

I thought the C40 looked nice - taking AA batteries as well - but I'm not going to have a look for a while!

Hi Bill

Let's be truthful about this - I actually do look rather like the 'old man in the boat'! You weren't the only one to fall for it either :^)

If I told you that the wine rack was only in the office to store the drinks that we don't wan't available to 'unsuitable persons' in the house . . . . . . . you wouldn't believe me would you? . . . . .so I won't say it :-)

Like others have said, close and predictable from your previous
descriptions.

Believe it or not, I actually fell for the "old man in the boat"
photo for awhile. Silly me!

I notice you have an "office supply" wine rack tucked in the corner
of the room. Life IS good!!!

Regards

Bill H
snip - that's enough of THAT!

Unsuitable persons? Hey...I AM an unsuitable person.....so when I come to visit I now know where to find the good stuff.

Blimey!

Didn't think you would - s'true though - I may be old, but I can make it to the wine rack in the house - this one has mostly malt whiskey and gin - together with a couple of bottles of classier desert wine.

I take that as a personal affront!

Actually.....more of a vodka person I'm afraid. More evidence of unsuitability.
so - when are you coming then?
Straight after Christmas.....didn't I tell you the dates? Remember, you promised to fetch me at Heath Row in the Rolls?
and where on earth did you get the word 'blimey' from egad.

Aaaack! Well, that dates me again. So.....both OLD and unsuitable....

Oooh.... Oneophiles abound. Whatcha' got there, Sauternes, Trockenbeerenauslese, Tokaj, Port, what?

I need to know so that I can bring the appropriate dessert, you see.... Chocolate souffle' cake with the Port, Raspberry and pastry cream Gateaux with the Trocken.... oh, I'm getting hungry now, all your fault!

May all your corks stay moist,

You realize, of course, how jealous you make us, right? Neat to see a software developer who isn't into the cold, modern, techno-minimalism that is prevalant. Such ambience', so 'let's use this technology, but not lets us forget our roots' sort of thing. Way to go,

As for the E20 - I don't like the gold bits!

Do I have to do a review

It'll take a day or so I guess. And I'll have to wait for the E10
to get back to do a proper job.

imagined! In fact, I was sure I had seen that face somewhere
before. Is it possible?

How do you like the E-20 and when will we get the Jono Slack review?

Hi Jono,

I guess your wise words makes lot of sense. I'll just wait and see... BTW there was an interesting program on the TV about digicams yesterday. It was also anounced that there's a big price drop to be expected in the near future for all digital cameras. so maybe we will see a more stable and reasonable price level within soon...

I see you're a guy who enjoyes a good whiskey... You must be living in the dream country then. It's really amazing how many whiskey producers there are in the UK and Ireland. I've enjoyed visiting some of them and I like the Irish taste a lot but I guess that's not in Mr. Slack's taste :-)

Anyway, cheers ! :-)
