Where is everyone from? I know the majority are American here but
what parts? I'm Canadian born and raised from parents who came from
Holland. I have lived in the Ottawa (the capital for those who
think it's Toronto - why wouldn't you think that!) area for my
whole life except for some shorter stints in Vancouver and Europe.
I have been all over the US a few times but there are many places
that I still have yet to see. If you're willing, let us know what
country and city you're from.

Regards,
Andrew
Here we go....

Born in Austria 1959, parents arranged move to Canada same year, was a mix-up with fairs/tickets and ended up (or should that be "down")in Australia, south west coast city of Geelong.

WOW! Talk about your melting pot. I am from Boston, MA but I have been living in Minneapolis, Minnesota for the past 35 years. I have also lived in Surry, Maine and I have a ton of relatives in New Hampshire.

Hey, a fellow Canadian. I was born and raised in the Canadian Southwest. (Makes it sound a lot more exotic (and warm and dry) than Rainy Vancouver.) Yep, I learned to rust long before I learned to tan.

After leaving home at 18 to go to college, I lived mostly in the western US, with a couple of years in France for a bit of culture. (And a forgettable attempt to live in LA for a year.)

Now I call Las Vegas home, and have for nearly a decade. (yes, quite a contrast to Vancouver. 4" of rain each year, on average, compared to my homesite, at the base of some mountains, that averaged nearly 100" per year. And yes, I miss the rain and the numerous shades of green that it brings.

Redwood Shores, California (about 25 miles south of San Francisco, 25 miles north of San Jose, a mile west of the San Francisco Bay and 12 miles east of the Pacific ocean.).

Born in a small town near St, Louis, Missouri. Twenty years in the US Air Force took me to Okinawa, Arizona, Greenland, Colorado, Texas and Alaska to live and a lot of other places for a visit.

Following that, lived in Ohio and now California for the past ten years, but planning to see CA in the rearview mirror and perhaps Nevada or New Mexico in the windshield --- real soon.

I know my latest questions have turned more to the philosophical
than the technical but that's how I understand what I'm dealing
with. The last thread about forum user backgrounds built pictures
in my mind that a digital camera will never be able to do (I hope).
My apologies to those who think these types of questions are
intrusive, boring or sappy.

That said, I have part two:

I forgot to mention that my wife (for 19 years)came from Dover,England when she was nine y'old(1970) but was supposed to have gone to Canada also but her father changed his mind at the last minute before boarding the plane.

BTW, she has no interest in photography what so ever and thinks my obsession with it is over the top but loves the end result.
