Taken with 18-135 nano on 80D in bright sunlight.
Ferry handrailings appear to suffer the worst of it.

You might want to upload a higher resolution image. That one was a little over one megapixel.

How's this?

I zoomed in to 200%, looks like shadows to me. IMO certainly not something to be concerned about.

I keep some of my favorite pictures here,

I can barely see any problem, and there can't be a much tougher test than this image. Even so, at such high contrast edges only true APO designs reduce color fringing to practically undetectible levels. I think this is an excellent performance, especially for a zoom lens.

If you can't tell the difference in a shot, then it really doesn't matter, does it?

As a pro, I'm bothered about what my pictures look like rather than any possible optical flaws. If you don't like it, remove it regardless of if it's shadows or fringeing. If you're happy with it aesthetically, it doesn't really matter which it is.

Looks fine to me, so I wouldn't bother looking closer so long as it still looks fine at any size.

Thanks to you and all the other responders for your input. I have tough time spotting some of the issues people describe on this forum (not sure whether lack of knowledge, poor eyesight, or a non-laboratory grade monitor are to blame) and have been generally happy with the results my kit yields. As a storytelling shot, I'm satisfied with this.

Scroll down and look at the larger version I posted at Scott Larson's request.

Dave, i looked at the the new photo you posted very carefully and didn't notice any CA, at least not on my screen and my eyes are pretty sensitive in detecting CA, nothing to spoil this nice shot ;-) your monitor may have a slight convergence issue.
