*** Your R System Images - August ***

Oh, I see - that gets the rotation almost back to the original orientation. Here you go, but without blurring the background.

I thought maybe you meant the reverse, like this.

I like your crop, but a blurred background behind the cat matches the blurred foreground, also diagonal, with just a sharp cat's eye.

When I first saw your picture and noticed the blur of the still objects, I thought you had handheld it. I thought, "wow, he hand held it for 30-seconds; his technique and the IS/IBIS are amazing." 😁

I was impressed by how sharp some shots I handheld for a 1/4 second came out with the RF24-70 and thought I should have pushed it more. I'm so sorry to hear it was just a dodgy ball head. 😢.

Thanks for your comments. Much appreciated. I guess the windy day exposed my dodgy ball head. The knob has been stuck for a while. Can't make any excuse but for my bad LR skill though. Similar shot later that day with just a 10-stop ND and 6 seconds fares a bit better in terms of shakiness.

A recent-ish image from Chester Zoo.

Shot raw, I originally edited this using my typical workflow: Lr -> DxO Photolab Elite (Basic edit including NR) -> Lr (tweaks) -> Topaz DeNoise AI (minimal NR/ Sharpening) -> Lr.

I have just put the same image through the early access (pre-commercial release) Topaz Photo AI (v0.6), workflow: Lr (Basic edit - zero NR or Sharpening) -> Topaz Photo AI -> Lr.

I believe the program is due to be made available for purchase in September (it is currently available to owners of all 3 Image Quality apps - DeNoise AI, Sharpen AI and Gigapixel AI).

There are differences between the edits (colour etc) due to my random adjustments ( :-D ), but look closely at the noise reduction and detail and make of the results what you will...

(Bear in mind the product is still being developed and this is a pre-commercial release).

No art work, no thought in taking the shot, just posting it to make you hungry. :-) For the Brits here, this is my version of the Victoria Sandwich.

My wife certainly felt hunger pangs when she looked at your picture. It looks a fine cake and picture. The sponge has risen really well and beautifully even, unless you cheated and shaved bits off. But it does not look like that. The folds of cream around the jam look just right. The top sprinkling of icing sugar, seems also to have small spots of water. It will not detract from the eating

Personally I dislike cream. A fine cake

Thanks! Not shaven. The cakes had a bit of a dome when removed but retracted almost perfectly. Full disclosure; I overmixed the batter just a bit. Not as delicate inside as I like, but still, it's delicious.

Cream? It's flavored with a bit of icing sugar and vanilla. :-)

You, sir, must bake. Only someone that does would notice what you did. I'm still a fair neophyte. Next bake; a birthday tart for my wife. She likes 'crem pat', so I'll make a batch and make a nice crust to put it in. I'll save the picture for the September version of R photos. ;-)

I don't bake cakes, but my mother used to make a terrific sponge and because I don't like cream she would make a filling of orange marmalade and topped the cake with a little more marmalade, tinned mandarin oranges and dessicated coconut.

It was my birthday cake for many years. My son does a good sponge though.

All the best

Well, this thread took an unexpected turn...

I leave cakes to She Who Must Be Obeyed, but I bake a couple of sourdough loaves most weeks. They show up on my Instagram feed (@grenow) from time to time, but only as iPhone shots. Must shoot tomorrow's bread with the R6... ;-)

Mmmmm fresh baked toasted sourdough, with a little butter and some lime marmalade. I do make marmalade!
Time for breakfast! Marmalade is something I've been promising I will make: we have lots of grapefruit and lemons in the garden.

It's not lime marmalade, but it is my sourdough toast for a "working" breakfast...

Who knew the 100-500 could be a food lens? ;-)

I love me some sourdough, especially if you make it with a fairly hearty crust. Warm, real salted butter and you have nirvana! Looking forward to seeing the results.

Maybe we should start practicing product photography. :-)

It is my usual breakfast. The toast is done exactly to my taste. I am a cold toast person, as I don't like the butter to melt.

The person who invented marmalade is a total genius.

Do you ship to the UK!

Your coffee has a nice crema!
