Yongnuo YN-560 ii (or III) not working on a6000

greetings, noob here. i'm having trouble triggering the YN560IV with my RF603C2 on my A6000. i've read thru this thread and several others so here's what i can tell you about my issue and hopefully someone can point out my error.

the 603 is paired with the 560 and will fire a test flash via the top button while mounted on camera (rf603 mode, ch1 for both, blue light winks, etc). the 560 will fire when mounted on camera. i've scraped the underside of the hotshoe rails enough to see plenty of bare metal.

camera is currently set to fill flash and 560 is set to M , tho i don't know if this matters. i'm assuming that what's supposed to happen is that i push the 'take picture' button on the camera and the flash is supposed to fire according to whatever settings i've entered via it's onboard controls. that's what happens when the 560 is on camera.

i've also tried both 603s (shipped as a pair) with the same results.

so, if anyone has any insight, that'd be spectacular. thanks.

First confirm the remote 560IV will fire when you short the center pin of the RF-603II to the metal foot plate on the bottom of the trigger.

If it fires then most likely the trigger isn't making good contact with the camera hot-shoe, either the center pin or the metal foot. I would apply some DeoxIT contact cleaner to the contact surfaces or rub with a soft white pencil eraser. Then make sure the center pin aligns with the pad on the camera's hot-shoe when the trigger is mounted.

If shorting the center pin doesn't fire the remote but the test button does then the trigger is defective. Also the pins on the triggers foot are spring loaded and should move in and out when you push on them.

hmmm, i can't make the flash go boom if the 603 isn't on camera no matter what pins i short (and i tried them all and lots of combinations). button will test fire when on camera, but the most i can get off camera is the blue light on the 560. surfaces are clean and buttons are springy. same results with both triggers. grrrr...

Make sure the 603 trigger is set to TX on the side switch & your YN560-IV is M & set to RX.

The other settings you mentioned sound correct, so it should work. If not I think maybe check the contact is OK, tight enough?

well, my initial pre-purchase research indicated that the majority of folks with success were using the canon model 603s so those are what i ordered. after my problems, i ordered the nikon version, just in case. they came today and worked on the first try. zero issues so far. so put me in team 603IIN, i guess.

i have N ones
