So my X-T5 is my first camera with wifi/bluetooth and I'm trying to understand what's happening when it connects to my phone using the Fuji XApp.
I don't have any issues (as far as I can tell) on the Bluetooth side of things. The camera and phone connect fine and the bluetooth icon shows in the app screen.
But in the camera the Network setup confuses me. The camera finds my network just fine - let's pretend my network is called DingDong for today's purposes - and sets up the first slot with my network's name "DingDong" (during this setup, I chose the Access Point option BTW). The fact that I'm configuring this connection to my network makes me assume that the way things would work is that both the camera and my phone (separately) connect to my wifi network and exchange data over it.
But the part I find odd is that when I open the app (and see the bluetooth icon says it's connected) and then touch the "Get" button in the app, I end up getting a dialog box that pops up asking if I want to join the "ad hoc" wifi network that the camera sets up, NOT my home wifi network...
Files transfer fine, but when connected like this my phone drops off of my home network so it can join the camera's network.
Is this the expected behavior? It seems weird to me. I mean, why do I even have to go through setting up the camera to connect to my home network at all if it's just going to use the one the camera sets up? Why not just allow me to set up the camera's network name & a password and skip the home network altogether?
Am I doing something wrong?
