Backup/restore to Mac won't work with X-T5

I have tried both X Acquire and Tether apps to backup my X-T5 settings and neither app can see or connect with the camera.
Tether works fine with my X-E5 so I know it's not the cable, port, permissions, or privacy settings on my Mac. FWIW, I'm running MacOS 15.6.1 but, again, this all works with the X-E5 and not X-T5

Camera Network/USB Settings per Fujifilm: Conn. Mode = USB Tether Shooting Auto (also tried USB Raw Conv./Backup Restore which worked on X-E5 but not X-T5)
USB Power Supply/Comm Setting = Auto (also tried PwrSppl Off/Comm On)

I spent over an hour on the phone with Fujifilm tech "support" but unfortunately got someone new with less experience than me

I also tried two different X-T5 bodies and then I updated the FW on both from 4.3 to 4.31. No luck.

Fujifilm's site says Tether is more up to date than X Acquire but neither is working.

Anyone else having this issue? Perhaps Tether needs another update for the current firmware? If it's the firmware then guessing others have this issue on any Fujifilm camera with the

I know I can backup my settings do my phone and I've done that but I want to be able to backup to my Mac.

I have had mixed success using xacquire to backup my x-t5 on my mac computers that are running Sequoia. It used to work on my mac studio desktop but at least under Sequoia and perhaps its predecessor acquire does not recognize the camera. Strangely enough acquire does work fine using my macbook air. The studio is several years old and the laptop maybe a year old. My guess is the problem is caused by some change in acquire that made it inoperable on the older processor on the studio.

26Aug25 Doesn't seem to be working on my Mac Mini M4 Pro/Sequoia 15.6.1 either, either with my X-T5. Relying on X-App on iOS to backup/restore settings.

On my X-E5 I can use X-Acquire and X-Tether to back up settings (though the X-E5 does't do tethering)

I've done some more tests using my X-T5 and X-E5 connecting to a Mac Mini M4 Pro and a Macbook Pro M2 Pro.

I'm not sure what this says. The same USB cable was used. In the case of the Mac Mini, I've tried the built in USB-c ports as well as a USB-c port via a hub. If the Mac Mini works with the X-E5 why doesn't it work with the X-T5? If the X-T5 works with the MacBook Pro why doesn't it work with the Mac Mini??

One of life's interesting puzzles...

I had a similar problem using a Windows 11 system recently. I had to reset my X-T5 to factory defaults in order to get it to connect. I don't know if the connection issue was caused by a setting I had changed or a bug, but the camera connects fine now.

Thanks for the suggestion. I did a initialise reset on the X-T5 and that has enabled wireless connection for X-Acquire and X-Tether . However, I still can't get USB connection on my Mac Mini M4 Pro. Still, it's an improvement. Thanks.

Apple started introducing some significant "security" features about two years ago in Sonoma. They have continued those upgrades in Sequoia. I had so many problems with my network server when I updated my boxes to Sonoma that I had to drop everything back to Ventura.

Apple finally got it patched and I moved to Sonoma. If you are using a dock, or connect external devices like disk or cameras to the computer, Starting with Sonoma a box pops up and you have to approve the connection. The default is not approve and the box is not up for long and people tend to ignore it. Don't approve it - no connection for that device. You have to shut down the Mac, pull the device bring up the Mac and attach and give the permission.

Apple also requires applications be given permissions to access data on your Mac. That should be handled at install but some applications don't give reminders to you by bringing up the appropriate window during install.

I understand why they (Apple) did it but they can be a royal PITA. I have never liked XAquire and if I tether I do it using Capture One (which works fine) not the Fuji tether App. XAquire is somewhat of a kludge and I use my phone for backup. I could never really get Acquire to work correctly any time I tired.

My Z8 allows me to back up my settings to the card in slot 1. In fact I can save and my settings at any point and reinstall settings from the save file. My Leica Q2 also allowed that. I could then download the settings to my laptop if I wanted. I wish Fuji would add that feature.
