What PP do you do most often

Several of you have mentioned straightening horizons. Is there free software that rotates an image less than 90 degrees without compromising the image quality? I've tried a couple such as Picassa and Picnik, but the image always looks worse after.
I use Gimp for this and it hardly worsens the IQ.

Resizing :)

Looking at a lot of photos submitted to my sites by various folks, I can tell you the three things that should be done in PP, that are frequently overlooked:

1) Straighten your horizons! The ocean does not flow downhill!

2) Use noise-reduction software; those splotchy things in the image were not part of the original scene...

3) Consider the rule of thirds and use your crop tool if that's what it takes.

Always looking for good images to display as a POTD!

Is the question.

I have Aperture and have recently got the Nik plug-ins.

What I need and can rarely find to my satisfaction is expert advice on how various adjustments affect each aspect of the image. My approach at this time is to not overdo anything.
