What is missing from the E620?

Not at that price, guess it soon will be time to retire the E-420... though if they could make a more expensive sealed version of the same camera I would really be happy, then I would not have a need for dual E3s...

Not true. Oly introduced IS on the E-510 two years ago, then improved upon it for the E-520 last year.

I wish people would stop banging on about "I wish it had video". If you want video buy a video camera! An SLR is for still photography. Video on an SLR is a gimmick and I for one don't give a hoot about it. Horses for courses.

Now that would make it stand out! Otherwise it's perfect, I'm definitely getting one!

When memory cards were more expensive I could understand the rationale of letting people use their XD cards. I noticed on Amazon the other day that a Sandisk 8GB SD was advertised at £9.95 in UK pounds - so this argument no longer holds water. No matter how much Olympus invested in the XD card, stubbornly sticking to the XD must hurt their sales. I have lost count of how many times I have recommended an Olympus P&S to someone only to have them respond that whilst they like the camera they wouldn't get it because of the XD card - and this from basically none photographers. I can understand the argument that at least you get 2 card slots and in every other camera of this class you only get one. However, I'm sure Olympus would gain far more by simply adopting the SD card. It really does put a lot of people off Olympus and quite frankly I don't understand why Olympus doesn't realise this.

I am very interested in the E-620 as a lightweight DSLR and it would make a great compliment to the ZD 35mm macro lens when I don't want to carry a full macro outfit. The XD card doesn't bother me, it's just that I feel it hamstrings Olympus.

missing a weatherproof body or a BLM-1 battery or a brighter pentaprism? well... true, but E-620 would immediately lose the light advantage, as a $699 camera.

It may be better to leave these to the next flagship.

Please list waht you think is missing from the E620.
I know there's been a lot of complaining about this thread being a troll thread, but Olympus should hear what we think about this new camera, both the positives AND the negatives.

For instance, I dislike the fact that Mode B costs in shutter activations and that since the E-330 they haven't continued including Mode A and the dual sensor format in later cameras. But then to Olympus the sooner you burn out your shutter the sooner you buy another camera (or spend $$$ replacing the shutter).

To those who complain about the negatives being said about the new camera in this thread, remember this forum is here to support Olympus USERS, not Olympus!

the issue is what is being written and why. I actually would love live view mode A performance came back but overall, I rather have what they did.

Andreas Feininger (1906-1999) 'Photographers — idiots, of which there are
so many — say, “Oh, if only I had a Nikon or a Leica, I could make great
photographs.” That’s the dumbest thing I ever heard in my life. It’s
nothing but a matter of seeing, and thinking, and interest. That’s what
makes a good photograph.'

I'm willing to pay top dollar for my ideal camera. I'm not going to
buy cheap cameras just to please olympus.
Then just what are you doing on the Olympus SLR forum.... no camera from Oly demands top dollar, so if you are willing to spend that, why don't you go to the top dollar forum??? Just curious, I am always up for a laugh like this....

If it would use the larger battery from the E-520, rather than the
smaller E-420 battery, it would be perfect IMO.
This was my only concern, but I am willing to buy a couple of spares...
The battery grip is no option, adding a lot of bulk and weight for a
mere doubling of battery capacity if I understood correctly (thus
bringing it just above what a BLM-1 would have offered?).

This probably wouldn't add much bulk or weight overall, the battery
size difference is quite small compared to the body. I guess they
went for the smaller battery to claim all the weight advantage they
could.

I wish you were the only one. Please keep video out of my cameras. Save the firmware footprint and CPU power for more interesting capabilities. How about taking multiple exposures to the logical HDR in camera conclusion?
