I'm thinking what else do I need from Canon. I'm a happy owner of
Mark II and a few L lenses. Most likely I'll purchase new ETTLII
SpeedLite 580. That's it. BUT, do I need anything else? What about
you folks? What do you need from Canon to develop and market?

Yeah, I will pay $2500.00 for that lens. One compact 24-300mm IS "L" USM f/2.0 lens... huh, imagine that.

If you do not understand the obsession then you should. If you shoot any type of low light sports without flash or where flash just is no permitted then you would have a very clear understanding. To be honest I would much rather have other lenses like my 200 1.8 and if they made a 300 1.8 I would probably be very happy and let my 200 1.8 go. A zoom of 100-400 or 200-400 at 2.8 makes a lot of sense to those that know its value. Even Sigma has realized there was a market in the 120-300 2.8 and if their lens had been right I would have never returned mine. Sigma admitted to having a bad chip in that lens and supposably they have corrected it. Even so, I have found that Sigma lenses just do not seem to be built as well as the Canon. I think a little more thought in the design area and things like placement of the tripod collar would go a long way to make a professional Sigma lens better.

Maybe f4.0 if it would cost too much for the 2.8.

I think they need to update the 100-400

A camera between the 20D and the 1DS MK-II.

It would cost about $2,500 and be 20D sized, 12MP, Full frame, same low noise as 20D, 5 frames per second, 18 raw buffer, fast writing, 1 series weather sealing, GREAT viewfinder with an easy to clean eyepiece that is a flat screw-in like Nikon's, not the retarded concave type, consistent and accurate 15 point AF and absurd battery life.

In other words, something that is more pro featured, but not the stereotype "Pro" size.

...optimized for center sharpness.

It would be a fantastic travel tele, especially in combination with digital crop factor and/or teleconverters.

Dan,

Allow me to add to that that it should also capture subtle three-dimensional depth cues as well as film...and take Nikon AiS lenses. :^)

My best,

About a month ago I saw an unevenly exposed flash picture.

Let's say a camera focuses on something four feet away. Background elements that are eight feet away come out too dark because they receive only a fourth as much flash intensity.

It probably is possible for a camera to find the distance of a background element and to adjust the corresponding pixels to compensate.

I have another brand digital camera and avoid using the flash indoors because the pictures come out so bad.
