Hey folks,

I’m using 3 Sony speed lights and shoot through umbrellas for my Son’s portraits. Shouldn’t I have my flash pointed at the center of the umbrellas? I’ve tried 2 different brackets, and neither one have the flash pointed at the center. They point higher up. Is there a bracket that has the flash pointed at the center? Thank you.

Terry

Are you able to tilt the flash head 150° up / 8° down?

This type of bracket will usually get you pretty close:

I made up a simple L bracket to let me use the flash in flat position and get the head closer to the umbrella shaft

It's not an exact science - close is good enough. You don't have to be perfect. You can vary the distance to the umbrella and/or the flash zoom setting to fill the umbrella without spilling over.

made many a contraption myself as well. but my new ad100 pro solves the ugly agricultural setups using normal speed lights.

Thank you very much. I have those too.
