Sensor resolution vs screen resolution

I can see clear differences in IQ between 16MP APSC and 24MP FF (both very sharp lenses) on my 27" 4K monitor. And i have to admit my pictures from 2005-2015 (pre 24MP FF era) look significantly worse on this monitor.
If you are sitting at a desk looking at a 27" monitor, you way are under the normal viewing distance (Mark's pic...) Sure I can even see difference that close, but that is not a normal display distance.

Today nobody is looking at pics on a bigger screen than their phone/tablet or a TV and at reasonable distance. They are also not pixel peeping, they are looking for emotion and composition to draw their eye/attention while scrolling though hundreds of pics and memes...

Unless you are printing huge it does not matter. For web display, even 12MP is overkill (unless you are coping the heck out of the shots).
If 1MP webdisplay (instagram) is enough for your needs, stick with your phone
I show pics on a 42" 4K TV all the time and even my D70 (6MP from 2005) shots look fine.
It's definetly fine if you keep your distance. And good images are still good even at 1MP.

That’s pretty much exactly my point :)
I'd say good to know im not the only one... sadly i now have to upgrade from 24MP to 42MP so i'm still able to make crops...
Or you spend the $$ on the correct lenses and not crop...
