Hello,

Would you please tell me what rate you use when you save a reduced picture for web in NX ?

Currently, I use PS and the "save for web" function, wich works fine. But maybe it's possible to avoid this step and save directly from NX, for web ?
Thanks
André

I am not home to tall you exactly but under the top menu item Edit go all the way down to Fit Photo where you can specify 600x800 or whatever size you like for the web. If you're using Nef files then you can save as jpeg for the web. If I need any last minute Sharpenning that's where I use the unsharpen mask function.

Thanks,
That was not precisely my question.

For web, I usually resize the picture to 1150*850, and then save it in jpeg format.

But I have to use a compression ratio (it's called "quality" in NX, if I remember correctly).

For example, if I want to publish a picture here at dpreview, I found that 60 is a good compromise between size and quality. Do you agree ?

Thanks Jason.
Any french version of your guide soon ?
Cheers
André

Don’t you find that using compression lowers the quality of the image?

I only changed the default once over the summer while away and fairly remote. Had to use dial up, so I wanted to send some updated pictures to my web page for friends to view.

As soon as I got home I replaced them because I found the pictures to be low quality.

Perhaps I compressed to much?
Thanks,

If you save your images 800x600 and save as Jpeg, Excellent Quality you won't lose any quality.

These examples were shot at Raw and converted to 600x800 jpeg and saved as Excellent. The sharpness is straight from the cameras +3 setting. I hope these examples help.

Yea, but your shots are using “Excellent Quality”. That what I’m saying I always use (other then the one time I noted when I had dialup). I was asking why someone would want to use a lower quality; after all, the files are already small when they are sized for the web even at excellent.
