Running of the Bulls Technique

Just wanted to follow up and thank everyone for their advice. The experience was amazing and I was able to get some pretty good shots. Haven't had a chance to sit down and do any editing yet, but here are a few of my favorites just looking over everything.

Thanks again!

Lucky lighting and being in a good location combined with being well prepared in terms of equipment and settings = a great shot on the first one. The rest are good too.

Great shots.

It's a special place, at a special time of the year.

Hope enjoyed the festival and San Sebastian as well.

Yea it was certainly great luck with the lighting on the first as the sun started popping through the buildings about 5 minutes before the run.

This is just a hobby for me during my travels, but was happy with the results and the great equipment likely had a majority to do with it along with everyone's help ahead of time!

The festival is certainly a one in a lifetime experience and would recommend it to anyone who is considering.

I have been fortunate to travel to many places across the world and San Sebastian is definitely in the top 10. I wasn't expecting that, but the combination of beautiful scenery with amazing food is hard to beat.

Way to go! I think some of the shots will look better if you crop.

I took these in San Sebatian in March this year. I've always liked the place.

personally, I would probably use Fv mode and set shutter to something like 1/1000 and aperture to 2.8, with auto ISO for anything about 30-40 feet away. if you're closer, say 15-20 feet, probably stop down a bit toward 5.6, since the DOF will be a lot shallower. Make sure tracking is on, and ai servo (this is a must, especially if you are used to landscapes and probably only using "one shot"), and use the faster continuous shutter mode and take 4-10 shot bursts. The wide area focus area helps with this, too (as opposed to the single point).
