Nothing special just a Robin which greeted us when we arrived to go birdwatching.

I wondered why the ball kept getting bigger, then it hit me.

Great shots! I've used that combination myself and get good results. Recently I have been using the RF100-400 plus the extender to lower the weight. It too does a very nice job.

Very nice. Love the colors!

A very nice shot -- however features do not appear good for Robin -- not sure where photo was taken but looks good for eastern bluebird.

if you have photo from another angle (and location) it would help verify ID.

Sorry I forget these forums are global.

Yes it’s a European Robin, or her in the UK just Robin. Which features heavily at Christmas time here.

Hi Maranatha,

I've never done a side-by-side test with these two lenses. I can tell you though that I never feel I am giving up much when using either one. I like the 100-400 with the 1.4 extender on the R7 when I want a light weight setup. That rig gives you 896mm on the long end (400x1.6cropx1.4=896), so it gets you in close on your subject with lots of detail. You can get in closer with the 100-500, it's just a little heavier setup. If you were pixel peeping perhaps the 100-500 would be sharper, but I wouldn't spend the time and effort to do that since they're both nice lenses.

Thanks Appreciated I have the 100-400 it’s a great little lens was just wondering would it be worth the upgrade probably not for what I do maybe a 1.4 extender would suit me better .
