This was taken on my first outing with my then brand new Olympus E-M10 and 12mm f2.0. That was six years ago. Now, the E-M10 and 12mm are a fond memory.

Ah, the lovely original Testarossa, the most iconic of the 512s IMHO , and a funny story to go with it :)

The showroom had a later model, 512TR. The view partially obscured by a silver 360 Challenge Stradale.
Yes, that's another good looking one! I think most of the great Italian designers -no matter if working for Ferrari, Lamborghini, Alfa, Maserati or de Tomaso- had a rather emotional approach to their job when it came to creating such a 'bella macchina'.
A stark contrast to the dreary, brown, boxy humdrum Passats, Cavaliers, Unos etc common on the roads in the late 80s. The 512TR I think lost some of the potency of the original Testarossa with the new, more rounded exterior, though it did get more horsepowers.
Just good I'm old enough to still enjoy looking at such a car but no longer want to own one! Makes life a lot easier! (Mainly because it is a lot easier to get out of something like my Renault Scenic than out of any great looking Ferrari!) :-D
Well, I can't judge. I currently have a Honda Jazz. I swear though, once my no-claims insurance bonus adds up I'll be getting something far more unreliable and difficult to get into!
:-D Well, I can understand your point of view. But half a dozen spine surgeries really can change your take on this! :-D
Had no idea Wankel rotary chainsaws were a thing. Interesting. Did you hear it run? Looks sort of orange though :P
The Dolmar KMS4 from the mid-seventies (KMS = Kettenmotorsäge, chainsaw). There is an old used one on ebay, the seller is asking for € 1.550 https://www.ebay.de/itm/Sachs-Dolma...447120?hash=item1cfd0b1890:g:zOgAAOSw5wRf6eyV

The colour, yes, not as red as a Jonsered, but on the other hand not as orange as something Stihl.

The sound: Difficult to describe, maybe slightly different compared to an ordinary 2-stroke engine, but on the other hand closer to that 2-stroke sound than I expected it to be. Less rpm than a modern one.

Thanks very much for sharing those. I'm only familiar with rotary engines in some racy Mazdas. So was expecting the chainsaw to scream like a banshee!
You're welcome, Ruairi! Yes, nice cars, these Wankel-Mazdas! Before the Renaults, all my cars were Mazdas (and before that, 20 years of BMW bikes).

A Wankel engine Mazda would have been nice, but a bit too expensive for me in those days. But my little Turbo Mazdas 323 were also a lot of fun, good for about 230 km/h, while mostly looking like any ordinary Japanese 'rabbit hutch' or 'rice bowl', as some called them, good for maybe 150. Understatement can be lots of fun on a German Autobahn! ;-)

The first and best known Wankel car here in Germany was the NSU Ro 80, 1967 - 1977. For the sixties, its design/wedge-shaped body was rather modern/futuristic looking. Maybe even a bit too futuristic for the 60s.

When Ro 80 drivers met on the road, they usually greeted each other. The number of fingers they were showing each other was the number of engines already burnt, so a one-finger 'thumbs-up' gesture meant 'Proud owner, still the first engine'. :-D

The Ro 80 was considered an upper middle-class or lower upper-class model, about comparable to something like a BMW 2500.

Reminds me of my first and only Ro 80 trip, with two friends, 1970 or 1971, from Trier/Germany to Salzburg/Austria, about 1300 km both ways. I was sitting in the back of the car, in between two big stereo speakers. Nothing wrong with that, but the only tapes playing all the time were Johnny Cash, Live at San Qentin, and something instrumental, James Last, In Concert. Still feeling sorry for my ears! :-)

This comes in view as we open the house door -

But we don't know the name - some sort of solarium?

I only notice the roses near the wall when I water the plants -

Sandra just parked the car as I came out from behind the Bird of Paradise plant. 'What the..?'

The CMOS sensor variations in my pocket zooms as well as the micro 4/3rds do a better job with red than the old CCDs did. I brightened the highlights and darkened the mid-tones by 0.10 in PSE15 Levels.

False daylight hours of shallow polar night SE of Saariselka. Long way to Tuiskukuru. Shall the trail be broken? Or I'll meet New Year 2020 midway under stars?

Reds are fading to navy-blues, reddish whites go to grays... Darkness chasing me. Forward! Forward!
