hi forum members, in customizing menu settings form my recently purchased R8, i noticed that shutter speed indicator/display doing something I've never encountered on a canon camera. it displays the shutter speed as an integer value (currently, it shows 199.6) and when I turn the dial either to increase or decrease shutter speed, the indicator changes by tenths of a point: 199.6 to 199.7 to 199.8, etc.

i don't recall shutter speed displayed like this when i initially started to use the camera, so it must be that i did something in my customization to effect this? I just don't know.

Has anyone experienced this? It doesn't seem to be "normal," as I've never encountered it on other canon cameras I've used over the years.

Maybe there is a simple fix. any help would be greatly appreciated! thanks.

199.x is a float or double value. Integer is whole numbers only.

Can't test currently but did you turn on flicker reduction? This can produce strange looking values to avoid led banding in the shot.

I am not near to my camera, but I think that happens when you turn on high-speed anti-flicker.

thanks. you're right, I found it whenn i went through my settings again.

Thanks George, you're right. went through my settings again. learned something!
