forgive me if i've just missed something obvious. On the R8, are the custom shooting modes set up such that only one of them can register manual settings? I have C1 set up in manual and i'd like to set up C2 in manual but with some different settings.

When I attempt to register C2 with these manual settings, the camera continues to indicate C2p, not C2m.

I've delete C2 settings and tried again--and again--but the result is the same. when i turn the mode to C2, it continues to indicate C2p.

I can register setting for C2 in AV mode, and the camera doe indicate C2av when i switch to it.

I don't recall having this issue with my R5. Is there something i've just missed? Any help will be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

I do not see any such restriction mentioned in the manual. I currently have my R8's C1 mode set in Av, and C2 set in M. I have not tried setting both in M mode.

thanks andy. i didn't think there was, and nothing i read indicates that. I'll go back through my settings again and see if i inadvertently checked something i shouldn't have.

Both of my custom modes are set up as Manual mode, so it can be done.

1. go to M mode and input preferred settings

2. save to c1

3. Repeat for c2

the same can be done for video. Which gives you 4 custom modes.

For all modes I’ve set to automatically update settings. Making switches between modes during a shoot very easy. But you need to take care resetting after you’re done shooting. Ensuring a good starting point next time.
