What is it about focus you wished improved? Manual? Faster?
You want steadier hands?
You want more glass? From who? Interchangeable? Larger?
Sowwwwww .. many questions Uly ????

... not many answers though....

Well when it comes to forethought and shot selection, one is rarely a master at it. So continuing to put more effort into that area can continue to yield good results. If you stop giving forethought or shot selection and allow yourself to shoot by formula that was successful to you in the past your photography will become stale and out of date eventually. So it is an area I continue to try to improve upon.

I know what you mean about two people shooting the same thing in different ways. Your photo excurision sounds like it was fun too. I have been able to do that myself here in Seattle with a friend at the Bloedel reserve. The photo excursion is really a blast, and especially when you can go with close friends. The pictures also seem to hold a special place too because of the memories they bring back to you when you view them.

What is this national polsters week ? lol

Ok, I'll play the game.......

"I would take better pictures if

1. my F707 camera didn't have any lag time
2. if somebody paid me to do this for a living :-)
3. if Sheryl Crow were my model for a day te he
4. if people would stop throwing eggs at me whenever I try to take a
photojournalism photo of them
(see that's why I didn't win the challenge!! lol)

Have a nice day everyone Mark / B4USA

I know what you mean.

Some of the shots that day I took just because I wanted to aim and capture a spontaneous moment. And while not "properly" set up, I did concentrate on trying to get a good metering and exposure. These are some of the MOST FUN pics that I took on that day, without a doubt.

The Mrs. and myself still laugh and laugh at these. :-)

Sometimes the best pitchas are the ones you don't plan out. Sometimes.

It depends upon the need and the purpose, I suppose.

What would you like to improve exactly about your photography
skills.
There's a lot I think. Creativity for first. I also would like to have an eye for a good shot all the time. Which aperture or shutter settings fits the best. What about DOF at this particulare scene?

Another one which have not that much to do with "skills" is, I would like to be not to shy to shoot people in public. I missed a lot of pictures were I think it would be a great shot, but...

Just an sample. I was in a garden center with my wife. They have shopping carts like small cars with real doors to open and a seat, for people with children. I nice little girl (about 3-4 years old) was standing next to her cart. Had the door open and her hand on the door. But as I said, I was to shy to take the picture...

At the end, my statement was to make clear that my bad or good photos have not much to do with the technic I use. In my case it's the man behind the camera which mostly fails. So even a D60 (which I dream of) would not give me better pictures now. Sure, possibilities would be extended, but I am not sure if I could handle this right now.

And that was exactly the point of this exercise. To see where we'd improve regardless of camera. It's interesting to see the posts in this particular thread that concentrate more on the gear and less on the mind putting the shot together.

1. I could learn to "see" better...more creatively...and more realistically; so many times I've taken what I thought was a really great shot, and then, back on the monitor (or the print, in the old days), it's just dull dull dull, or someone stuck a telephone pole into the shot after I took it! Thank goodness for cloning!

2. I could REALLY see better...they say that at my age, eyesight is the second thing to go!

3. the Autofocus on the DA were more accurate, and if the camera gave some kind of warning that focus has not been truly achieved; my Minolta SLR does that and has saved me from taking a lot of bad shots.

4. I learned to use some of the more advanced features of PSP and PSE.

5. I could be more patient...waiting for the "right" moment.

6. I were luckier :)

Thank you, Linda. But they're getting harder and harder to catch as they run around so much!

the 707 had bulb shutter speed. I used to do a lot neat tricks with it in my past life and my old Nikon N90 (not the N90s). I'm talking like ten years ago. Also would be nice to have on 4th of July with the Zamboni fireworks over the river in Pittsburgh downtown . sigh..

Yes I would love to have better light all the time, but that won't happen.

I would like a faster (and more accurate) auto focus. Also, an EVF or optical view finder (OVF?) that would help with manual focusing.

Steadier hands will be available shortly after the introduction of the 256MB Memory Stick ;-)

More glass would be nice. I really liked the larger lens on the Olympus E20. Interchangeable would be nice too, but not required for a consumer/prosumer digicam.

typically in part a Function of the glass -- one multipurpose lens will not perform like great glass.

Depends on how much they want -- my hands would still shake if they want too much! :-)

Interchangeable only way to get great glass. Better off with 707 than E20 IMO. A used D30 can be bought for ~ $1300, then with some decent glass, outperform all but the newest $2K + DSLR's.
