I'll be checking the thead once or twice a day, not every 15 minutes, (I do have other things to do), so don't get too stressed out if it seems like I take a long time to respond.

LOL. I have to get in... let me see, I have this tree in front of my building, and there is a BLACK squirrel. Maybe that one will add spice to my entry.

I'll be back later with an entry (I hope)
Cheers

Here in the desert tree-type squirrels are pretty slim pickin's, but we have quite a few ground squirrels. Here's one to bolster my shaky, but accepted, 1st effort. Gotta justify your confidence. :-) More in the near future.

…for admission to the WSSA.

Below is the not so rare US East Coast version of the tree critter. There are only about a half-dozen of them frequenting my back yard.

Here's my local house squirrel. I had to crop quite a bit to get this shot. I might of sharpened too much too. I'll try to get a better one during Open WSSA Season but I did not want to miss out. I respectfully submit this one.

Hoping to be a member,

Mike

Nice pic, but I want you to work on two things. It needs to be sharpened a bit more to bring out the fur. The face and paws are slightly out of focus, but I think that's ok, but the fur can be much crisper (without getting crunchy). A little USM will do wonders.

Two, crop some of the dead space away from the left, top and right. I'm not saying to crop down to the squirrel itself, but there's just too much negative space.

I like the blurry green grass in front!

LOL I posted my pic when you folks over the other side of the world
were still asleep. I never remember to allow for the time
difference. Here it is again, taken on the first day I got my TCE2
teleconverter.

1100 x 825 pixels! Yikes! Too big! Erg! It took a while for that one to come up! How about we keep these to 600 x 800 max WITH COMPRESSION!

OK, I'm over it :) Nice shot. My only criticism would be that there might be a little green space on the right that you don't need. Very clear and crisp for a squirrel shot.

Congratulations! You're WSSA Member #24.

I'm going to call this one overexposed and say try again. I'm guessing this was a pretty deep crop to get this composition, considering that it looks a touch pixellated. Considering that you're using a 5700 or 8700, it seems like you should be able to get reasonably close via the zoom. Try throwing out some sunflower seeds and those little rats will come running!

It was a pretty good crop, you're right, not processing done on it tho, I think I shot it at ISO 100 back them it was about a month ago! This was shot in the woods, not at home and it's a tad dim in there at times and they are a little spooky, LOL!
