NX1 - micro-blur - even with E-Shutter On, and OIS in Mode 2

Claudio NC states that: "the NX1 creates micro blurred images due to the vibration of the shutter blades" - this is known problem for Nikon - it's not the lenses as they work fine on NX500, NX1000, etc. The NX500 has a newer/different shutter mechanism ...
Not on my NX1 it does not.

Vibration (or any motion for that matter) produces directional blurring, it is obvious. The picture posted by the OP is simply out of focus because the blurring has no direction, it is in all directions.

Don't make the mistake of thinking just because you got a green box that the image is focused. The camera does not know what is or is not in focus, it makes a best guess based on what is on the focus point at that time. Just because the software decides that a particular solution has optimized focus does not mean that focus has been obtained. The real focus point may be closer or further away.

i got the NX1 sent in, because I noticed micro blur - only on the left side of the picture - with the 30mm and the 45mm lens. I was told that the lenses are defective, which is hard to believe. See below the left and the right side of the image.

Hi, this was P and center AF. (100 iso, 4,5 apertaure, 1/320) But anyway, I guess the metering method cannot explain for different kind of sharpness of object at the same distance (inifinity).

I've taken around 1k shots on NX1 with 16-50s, and i'd say at least 75% of my shots are blurred.... I've stopped taking pictures with it as you just can't rely on it. I def did switch camera on/off to save battery, now i will run a test with it powered on for a few minuites before shooting..... But yeah video is super great/perfect/ and was so upset to come back from vacation and having no use for at least 75% of the photos :/

E-shutter could be the culprit. How is it possible that 75% are faulty and you never noticed?

I know a few people with NX1 and noone has such a problem.

I am noticing a micro blur sometimes with the NX500 and the 12-24 lens. Have a look at these two unprocessed images for example. The first one is slightly blurry across the whole image, the second super sharp. I am pretty sure I focused in both 1/3 of the distance, probably in those big rocks on the left and right.

It's not a severe case, but even If the camera misfocused, shouldn't some part of the first image be tack sharp like the second one?

Hello, I am sure your problem is the IS of the 16-50 S lens. A friend had the same problem. He returned lens and NX1 body (guarantee time). With the new equipment he had never again this problem of blurred pictures.

because i use the camera for video exclusively, but being on vacation in punta cana i did pictures for the first time and noticed. Just ran a test few min ago where the camera was powered on for a few minutes before i did the shoot. selected the aF point and pointed at the eyes.... and almost all photos are OOF slightly..... sux, get way sharper images with a6300 and a crappier lens..

can't complain about video at all though, the only thing wish DR was better :/

Did you try with e-shutter off?

I had a session a few months ago and between 2 NX1, 1 NX500 and 4 lenses I didn't noticed anything similar.

How the video is in focus then?

What lens do you use? If it is the 16-50S, can you try with OIS off? Also, try to check your shutter speeds, for anything in daylight, a faster shutter speed would be preferable anyway, check if you can get any worthy pictures for faster shutter speeds.

So the issue is for shutter speeds slower than 1/60?

There must be a way around it! you just have to find what it really cause this, or try on a Samsung service center, there must be a few left, recently I read about one in Germany and USA among others.

The Samsung Service Center in Sweden has stopped all service of Samsung cameras. The company that did it says they stopped because it´s not profitable. Does anybody know the address or name of the firm that does the service in Germany? The german service center seem to have stopped the camera service also. I don´t need service right now but it would be nice to know where to send it when I need it.

The German service partner is Geissler: https://www.geissler-service.de A couple of months ago, they still had one employee that was skilled in the Samsung tech (although working on another brand predominantly) and they still have spare parts. Contact Jörg Leibfritz, he runs the repair department.
