Hi

I'm new to this, and to the Fujifilm system (just got an X-T5), so please excuse me if this has been answered before.

I normally use back-button focus, so have shutter AF set to 'off' (both C-AF and S-AF) in the button/dial setting menu.

But I want to set up a custom bank for when I hand the camera to someone else who is expecting the camera to focus with a half-press of the shutter – ie the menu item set to 'on'.

I also want to have a custom set for photographing moving cars. This has a different set of AF settings. That's fine. But I also want it to have OIS 'off', and that is greyed out when I try to edit that custom set.

Grateful for any help.

OK, it seems no-one replied because it's impossible. Many of the wrench settings can't be stored in custom banks. I hoped they would be because in my previous Pentax you could store basically anything in custom banks.

Anyway… I figured a workaround if anyone is interested.

There is no need for AF-S if you use back button focus. Leave the lever on the front of the camera in AF-C. With a static subject you press the back button then release and shoot when you're ready. If the subject moves, expectedly or unexpectedly, just hold the back button and the focus adjust continuously. And with racking if that's what you have set.

So I have shutter AF (wrench menu -> button/dial setting, page 2) set to OFF for AF-C.

But I have it set to ON for AF-S, so when I hand the camera over I can just flick the front lever to AF-S and the camera will focus on the shutter button as most unfamiliar people would expect.

By the way, the camera focuses in open-aperture for AF-S and stopped-down for AF-C. I guess it's conceivable in low light you want the latter. So I have set the MF+AF in the AF menu to ON (for all custom banks) so that I can just turn the lever to MF and press the back button to get full-aperture autofocus.

As for switching IS on and off, it's now in my quick menu.

Hope this helps someone. I'm going tp copy the text into a note on my phone so I don't forget.
