Good tip. I use no filters unless I need one for a particular effect. Big lenses don't accept front filters anyway so I figure with my most expensive front elements "nekkid" why bother with any of 'em?2 good links about UV filters...
By the way, you can get "clear" filters. Adorama or B&H should
sell them. frankly, I buy Hoya multi-coated for lower priced
lenses, and B+W multi-coated for better lenses. A bad filter can
make things worse. A good filter will help improve image quality
in many conditions.
