Hi.

What about ND-filter (Neutral Density), when I just want to protect the lens?

2 good links about UV filters...

By the way, you can get "clear" filters. Adorama or B&H should sell them. frankly, I buy Hoya multi-coated for lower priced lenses, and B+W multi-coated for better lenses. A bad filter can make things worse. A good filter will help improve image quality in many conditions.

ND filter will cost you a stop on the lens, UV is almost for free
light-wise.

Good tip. I use no filters unless I need one for a particular effect. Big lenses don't accept front filters anyway so I figure with my most expensive front elements "nekkid" why bother with any of 'em?
