I think PC talk would be the correct forum. I understand your point
as Macs these days are just PCs with OS X (Windows and Linux
sometimes) so the main differential seems to be the OS
I think its a history thing where a couple of years back buying a Mac
meant that you had a whole different system based on PPC™
architecture, really setting them aside in the consumer marketplace.
I wonder what percentage of users use Linux for photography?
I use Mac and Windows personally.

Linux runs on PC's, both 32 bit and 64 bit, as well as on all Mac's, Intel and PPC™ architecture, but also Alpha ,mainframes, NASA supercomputers, Sun Spark, game consoles, routers, refrigerators, coffee machines and toasters ;-), almost anything with a CPU.
Though this portability of linux has very little to do with photography, I don't understand your point. Linux has as much to do with PC's as with Mac's, it runs on both.
There is however an enormous amount of Linux related info available on the net, no need for a linux section on dpreview imo, unless it is photography related.
