Try this FDSIK is not that hard to run....
Yes you will need to FDisk it then format it, everything should
work fine after that.
Instructions:
1. Attached IT to computer.
2. Start computer
3. Once booted open a MS-Dos window
4. Type FDISK and press enter.
5. It will ask if you want to enable Large Disk support. Answer yes.
6. A menue option will appear.
7. Optition number 5 shouldbe change current fixed disk....choose
this.
8. This will list all your Physical hard drives. This number will
depend on the number in your computer.
9. If you only have ONE HDD inside your computer you want to choose
the second drive or the third if you have two HDD inside your
computer.
10. On the next menue choose optition number one "Create DOS
partition........"
11. It wll ask you if you want to use the entire space I would
choose the default size (the entire drive).
12. It will go off and do some stuff and if I remember right tell
you that you need to reboot the computer. If it doesn't after it
finishes doing its thing back out to the main menu or hit ESC to
exit fdisk.
13. Close your DOS window.
14. Reboot your computer.
15. Now attempted to format the HDD.....Things for you should
become better.
Having a real hard time trying to format. I'm not technically
minded at all. Have tried to follow directions, have IB connected
HD is showing up in window, red ready light on.... Not showing new
drive.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Running Windows 98.
Saw Vasa's post regarding connecting HDD to computer and that
totally scares me....
Thanks in advance...Pam
