Hello folks,

I pretty much want to use this camera plus a portable 4K monitor to use as a spotting scope. So all I want is for it to output 4K to my monitor. I don't need it to record or anything.

What settings do I need to make this happen?

Right now, it only outputs 1080p 60Hz (according to monitor).

The ONLY ways I have found for it to display 4K on the monitor is:
  1. if I go into the "green play button" menu, where it will display just the menu on the external monitor, in 4K 30Hz, and the camera body says "TV Output in progress". Once I exit this menu, it goes back into 1080P
  2. I record a video, then press the green play button. It will show a static frame, but at 4K. Then if I press the up botton on the camera's controller, it will play that video, also in 4K.
So this means the camera plus cable CAN output 4K to the monitor. I just want it to do it as part of live view.

If [TV Connection] (p.223) was set to 'Auto', have you tried setting it to '4K'?

yes, it's set to 4K. If set to auto, not even the green play button menu will be in 4k.

update: I got it to work by getting an "EDID emulator", which is one of those little devices with HDMI male and female ends and tells the source "I am a 4K monitor".
