How many if you use a rollerball mouse ???

Any of you use rollerball mouses too ?
Two modified ITAC trackballs.
Modified ? How ?
Foam padding on the wrist rests. The original rests are too hard for maximum comfort.
Mmm. Got it. You'd think for a premium mouse, they'd give that buying option.
I'm glad they didn't; if I disliked their solution, it might get in the way of mine. And my fix was free. :-)

No, these ITACs are just what I want; they're well built and last a long time, but I've bought a couple of spares in case they go out of business.

I'm going to look at those now. TY. Like I say, I like my cheapie, but always open to something new, and maybe better...

Logitech M570 has a scroll wheel which is clickable.
Yes, but right-hand only.
It's been so long since I used a mouse with a scrolling wheel that even if I acquired one now I'm quite sure I would forget to use it.

In any case just dragging a mouse all around my desk using my entire arm seems completely ridiculous to me.

By the way that 570 model with the Rollerball intended to be operated with your thumb would seem really weird to me and take some getting used to. I'm totally okay with the cheaper model with the ball being right on the top Center since that is what I've always used.

PC Trac trackball. Ball is same size as a billiard ball. Been using since mid 80's. Have never used a regular mouse.
Now that would be interesting. Do any of you remember an old arcade game called millipede ??? It had a huge rollerball about the size of a baseball.... I was a master at that game. I think my high score was about 800,000 😀

I used to use a trackball, more than 20 years ago, but switched to a mouse when I needed a scroll wheel. I've been thinking about trying a trackball again since many modern ones have a scroll wheel and the extra buttons I use, like middle click and back button.

Logitec M570. Had a different tracball first (since about the turn of the century). Love this one, gonna try that tipping it on a lean, see how I like it.

I use a Logitech Marble Mouse for the last 16 years I think. Actually, this is No. 2, since the first one got problems with the keys after some years and I was to lazy to replace them. At the Powermac before, I used a Trackball too. The first contact was at RADAR consoles during my time in the military, where I belonged to a service unit in the late 80s.

Btw, my keyboard for the last 10 years has a wheel, so I don't miss it in the Marble Mouse.

I have used them for more then 20 years now and as a programmer at work and as a Photoshop and Lightroom user at home, for many hours a day. Never had problems with RSI. No small movements of the shoulder and elbow, only my fingers. I like them.

Although I am left handed I always used them with my right hand. No problems. And as a extra I kept my left hand free for taking notes or something like that. No letting go of the mouse for taking a pen.

Greetings Leon.

still using rollerball mouse? thats cool! I remember when counter strike was released 17 years ago, haha

It's a much more comfortable position for me. Try turning your arm to different positions and you'll see where the most neutral spot is and your wrist joint is under much less strain.

This is just out of curiosities sake, as I have been using one for like 15 years, and can't imagine ever using anything else.

I remember way back thinking I needed a wireless one, then the guy at Best Buy reminded me that with a roller ball mouse, it stays in one place, so your not dragging the cable around anyway, so I got the wired one, and it has never been a problem.

Also I should mention, mine had worked perfectly, like new, for nearly 15 years..... then, during a move, the ball got dropped and scraped, and it didn't roll smooth ever after that. Even tried sanding the scraped area with 1000 grit, but no go. Found just the balls on Amazon, but they were 3/4's the cost of a new one, so I just went that rout instead.

Anyway, it seems like every time a friend sits down in front of my PC (not very often, but just saying) they get all messed up and not know how to operate the mouse.

But flashing way back, I think it took me about 10 minutes to get used to it, and since then, I've never looked back. Love my rollerblading mouse.

Do not rush - I have 5.25" proper floppy discs - planning jump to 3.5" around 2020 when I upgrade my modem to 14.4 kbps.

On serious note - I used to use trackball and was happy with it, but somehow I find mouse more convenient for Pp (masks etc).

Those better be HD 5.25" discs. 360KB is just not enough space.

Eric:

The PC Trak does have a scroll function. Hit the switch at the front of the ball and roll the ball.
I see so many people concerned with the scroll button....

But honestly, at this point, I am SO used to not having one, that even if I were given one, I bet I'd keep going straight to the side bar and clicking to scroll anyway. It's not something I even think about it. I just do it automatically...

I used an MS Intellimouse trackball on and off for some years. I liked it for applications, but it was not good when you had to spin the ball for the handful of games I had at the time. That was a mess.

I preferred the large MS wireless mouse with a heavy ball in it. Very accurate. It behaved much better with the cursor than the Logitech wireless laser mouse I have now. The Logitech has masses of programmable buttons but the simple tracking is dire and jumps about.
