Fuji X100F issues

I got an X100F a month ago at a local dealer. The ELF and LCD displays rendered B&W with a brownish tint. I took it back. I looked at a black version they had in stock. The auto-focus that is supposed to be much faster than my T was hunting in good light. I handed it back to the sales person with, "No thanks." I decided to upgrade to an X-T2. Got it home and noticed that in the ELF I had a green and magenta line on opposite sides of straight line images and the playback flickered. I haven't wend it in yet but since I have an X-Pro2 that works great I probably will. Seems Fuji got swamped with orders on the new cameras and quality control is not there. They are getting their screens from Sony who is a compeditor. Fuji's orders to Sony had to jump as well so it's hard to say who is dropping the ball, but I would NOT buy a new Fuji camera until the dust settles!!!
agree 100%

Hmmm, bought the X-Pro2, X-T2, and X100F all on day 1. 0 issues to date. Was I just lucky (as I have been will all of my Fuji bodies in the past as well) or were you just unlucky?

SO what, Anyone has issues w they post on here, how about peoples cameras that run Flawwless threads where are those?

I bought my X70 USED on Ebay....Works GREAT, never an issue...Oh and got for $300 less than New price :P

My X-E2 when I had it for 3 years never a Problem, should have posted a thread!

I posted on a more recent thread but I wanted to know if the X100F issues persist?

For me they have. I bought one off of amazon about a month ago and after 3 weeks the aperture lens went sticky and there was dust in the viewfinder.

I sent it to fuji, after lengthy discussions and finally came on the net to do more research, which I was surprised to see so many of the similar issues I had. I love the camera so much but it is hard to justify that kind of money for the reported issues.

Even worse, there are no real competitors to this camera, none. I've been using a Ricoh GR2 but it is totally a different experience. Smaller yes, but not as intimate. Think I'll return it.

I've returned my X100F to Amazon for a replacement, I'm worried though that I'll have to go through this all over again. Luckily I was in the window to return the X100F back to amazon, but still what if it only happened 1 more week later? I would have had it forever with worry that other issues would surface.

Any one know how to generate a shutter count on the X100F? I want to see it first thing when I open it..After speaking with fuji, there is a process they do for returned cameras to amazon. They take returned ones, they QC them, and then they re-sell them new, I want to be able to check the shutter count because of this, or maybe I won't even know if they have some way of resetting shutter count?

I'm nervous. I just want a beautifully running X100F. The shots I took for the three weeks I had it were incredible. Then a pit in my stomach grew as I read and researched what others have said.

HELP

Hi All,

Just to let you know: the issues in the first batch of X100Fs are not far fetched. After a one month long waiting today I finally received a message that my pre-ordered camera had arrived in store. No free leather case though, yet. I decided to pick up the camera anyway and keep waiting for the case.

However, having read almost everything about the X100F in the internet, including this thread, I came to the shop with the list of checks to be made before paying for the camera.

The camera was brand new and factory sealed. The first thing I noticed was almost empty battery. So if you want to examine carefuly camera in store before making a purchase (which I absolutely recommend) bring your own charged battery and SD card.

The second thing were three big dust particles in the centre of the lens together with a fourth, smaller one. Those would probably not be visible in pics - but I cannot accept something like this in a brand new camera that is over USD 1500 worth (PLN 6100 in my case). I therefore decided to skip this piece and wait for the second batch, hopefully this time - with the promised case.

I also noticed that the cover of the LCD screen is a bit soft/mushy, especially in the lower right corner - which was also mentioned in one of the posts here. Nothing major, however in comparison, the screen of my (beloved) X100 classic feels rock-solid.

Hope this helps those of you who are about to pick up their cameras.

PS. By the way, I am very much used to the user experience of my X100 classic. It is with me all the time. I am considering an upgrade (X100 stays with me anyway) because of: the AF (esp. in low light), better high ISO, Classic Chrome and Acros, better EVF and WiFi - to name just the major improvements... HOWEVER, after playing for approx. 10 mins with the X100F in store I am not that sure anymore that I really need this upgrade. The X100 still feels great and remains a wonderful camera! Here's one of the many proofs:

So do I really need this CChrome, Acros etc. - or is it just a severe GAS attack ;)

Cheers from Warsaw, Poland!

Michal.
Hi All,

I guess I owe to you an update. In March 2018 I finally became a proud owner of the X100F. And I totally love it! No issues whatsoever this time. It is indeed a massive upgrade to the X100 classic (which stays with me, btw) and pure joy to use. Just get yourself a decent LCD screen protector - and have fun. Highly recommended!

Cheers,

Michal.

I gave up with the F .i had three faulty copies and even the store owner was shocked how poor the qc was . Hopefully it's all good now
It would be interesting to know what was wrong with each of them. Similar problems with each or different things that made you give up?

It would help me to make a decision.

Thanks!

I'm returning the replacement I got from Amazon today from the one I got three weeks ago that had a faulty aperture, this one has a scratch on the inside OVF and a bright green line in the EVF right before I take the shot. I believe I'm done with Fuji. I love the x100f so bad, but I have to wash my hands clean here.

Ricoh GR II

Just to add to this list of potential defects to be aware of, I returned my new X 100F about 1 week after receiving it for a replacement. The LCD had 2 very faint vertical lines during live view, pixels lighter in color than the actual image. The images were unaffected and actually were on par with my X-T2. Not a major issue but I was concerned for future worsening problems. I hadn't noticed any other problems functionally but I had not been aware of other complaints. Mine had no dust at all. Love the camera and am willing to give it another go but if other problems arise I will return it for a refund. The replacement arrives in about 7-10 days from Adorama. Good thread, very helpful, thanks.

I wish you luck. I love the camera. Trying to figure out if I should give it another at bat...it’d be my third time.

You guys made me want it again , so I found one Silver in mint condition on Kijiji with a bunch of accessories for $1300 CAD after a bit of lowballing. Went to the seller and ... I didn’t believe my eyes ! Dust on the sensor ! But I believe the guy that he didn’t notice it since it was apparent from about F5.6 and very visible by F8 . I didn’t buy it . Got disappointed and passed by Henry’s and bought Canon G1X mark III . Everything works as out of the box - no dust or any issues . I’ll see . Have 14 days to check everything. So far I like it . Very well built weather resistant camera . Much smaller than the F.

Faulty in which way?

Hi Adam Sharp

Was this what you meant by "lens misaligned"?

Notice the lenses of these X100F's aren't sitting dead-center of their lens barrels (silver part with focusing ring and aperture ring).

When I was having all the problems mentioned in a previous post I called the Fuji rep. They acted as if I was the only to call in with these issues. I know this is not the case since I'd seem similar complaints already on the net. This is just not like Fuji Support. I think the issue may be systemic and large so they're playing it down until they can decide how to handle it. I told them all the Fuji bodies and lenses I have or have had and let them know in no uncertain terms that they'd better get their act together, own it, let us now and FIX IT or the brand is going to suffer in a large way. I was a loyal enthusiastic Fuji photographer but am holding off until I see what they do. It can't be me since I had problems with all three cameras I tested (two X100F's and an X-T2) that have been manufactured since January in a row. What are the chances of that?
maybe things will improve with their camera manufacturing plant in China
